Never really saw this coming, but after hearing "Unsainted" a few times on Sirius, I went ahead and ordered the new CD. Holy shit! I got it a few days after it came out and I haven't stopped listening to it since. There's some useless filler that I've removed from my playlist (and had to edit the high-pitched squeal at the end of Unsainted, as it hurts my ears a lot). Never would I have imagined that Slipknot would hold the "Album of the Year" title in my world. I'm going back, listening to some of their older stuff, and well, call me a fan. (I realized last night, I'm finding them to be in a similar vein to Machine Head for me.)

I know I'm late to the party, but better late than never!

You must have bumped your head - maybe a minor concussion. It will pass and you can get that CD to the nearest bin soon enough.

If you think this is good then the self-titled album and Iowa are gonna blow your mind.

All the posts responding so far, cynical, sarcastic, lame.

Nice one OP, glad you enjoy the record, it's a good one, agree with getting rid of the filler. Some monster performances on there \m/

I think it's a great album tbh, especially if you ignore the filler tracks. I wasn't the biggest fan of Unsainted at first but after hearing them play it live, it's pretty fucking crushing.

I've never been a big Slipknot fan, but I love, i mean LOVE their song Purity. Aside from that, I really should try harder to get into them. They're a damn good band with some excellent guitar work, brutal vocals, and drumming that just oozes talent.

Damn...maybe I really am into them.

Purity and Eeyore are really underrated tracks imo. They're both just so fun to listen to.

The "filler" stuff is the only remotely interesting thing about the album. The actual songs are garbage. :2c:

Where the fuck you been m8? Funny enough they're sound has been becoming a little more pop-ish, mainstream-ish... I'm still a fan but I like their earlier and newer stuff for different reasons. They're older sound was more aggressive and violent... Now they got catchier choruses, and even acoustic stuff...

They lost me at The Gray Chapter. That album was awful. As is the new one.

IMO, the last good album they had was All Hope Is Gone. The last great album they had was Iowa.

I think that violent stuff is what kept me away, tbh. Listened to a lot of what’s available on Amazon Prime streaming, and really digging the Gray stuff as well, some of which I have heard before and liked.

I'm not a huge Slipknot fan and only really listen to their hits, but this album is starting to grow on me, especially after listening to the whole album. This album and Fear Inoculum both have these little like filler/transition tracks that I think aren't necessary, but besides that, this album is definitely a favorite of mine.

Only thing I like about them is the drumming. If you could get that drummer on someone else's material, it'll be killer. IMO their songwriting is utter garbage and guitar work mediocre at best. I rather listen to Scandinavian C list bands than this.
