Flattened the neck with my router sled^^^
No scarf on this neck. I'm going to route the front of the headstock to thickness, after the fretboard.

I routed the neck joint into the main body ^piece.^^^ ( 1 inch thick) Next I'll book match joint that maple top and cut the neck joint area out of it, then glue it on. Then I'm thinking truss rod slots in the neck, flatten and fret slot the fretboard. Gonna carve out that lower horn area a Lil more.

Full size headstock print out above, the outermost area is actual size of shown neck blank. I'm gonna double sided tape it to the headstock area and use it for drilling the holes and outer forming with band saw and drill press sander.

Do you mean outer headstock to edge of tuners?

Outer edge of headstock to your neck blank, outer edge of headstock to edge of tuners, tuner placement...
it all looks VERY tight.... I'm sure it's doable and for an 8 string that seems like a valid plan. just looks tight is all.

Will the D-string tuner mount up? Or does the mounting screw overlap with where the A-string tuner needs to be? Maybe I'm misunderstanding that template or you have some different tuners in mind?

Oh yeah ok, wasn't quite sure. I think it will be good but will be doing a mock up before I cut.

Oh yeah, it will overlap, but I'm gonna cut that one off and only use the threaded nut thingie to hold that tuner in place. They don't even have the extra screw holes on my Ibby RG tuners and I paid close to 500 bucks for that thing new.

Won’t the tuning machine rotate a bit unless it’s fixed with something other than just the nut?

Maybe look into Sperzel tuners, which I think are the size you want but have a sharp pin underneath that kind bites into the headstock to hold it there.

This gives a better view. Sorry hard to get a better pic without shadow. Maybe I could angle the tuners forward some?

I'll CAD it up This weekend.

The top is holding together nicely after glueing. Next to cut out the neck joint area. Thinking about cutting some controll cavities before I glue it on.

^^^cut this out on my wealthy BFF's Haas VF2 today- free. Had to engrave the IGC English font for shits and giggles. 6061 free courtesy of the scrap bin.
I will drill mounting holes, saddle adjustment screw holes, deburr and polish or anodize later. Those roller saddles were like 12 for 10 bucks on Amazon. They roll fine I guess some people had to open the slots some? No big deal, but seems unlikely.
Not sure if I really want to use it tho. I'm thinking a Zebra wood bridge is more earthy / cool looking.

Cut the neck joint area out of the top, and rough cut the outer.

Mind you the neck is still as wide as the headstock^^^

That is some awesome milling on the bridge. You should probably mill some aluminum saddles too, just for fun.

Thanks! I have some ideas floating around for saddle, nut, pick up bobbin making via CNC. I will if I can find the time but for now I'm mostly restricted to the manual equiptment I have at home.

It is tempting to bust on one of these Shapoko or Open Builds CNC routers I see you and @dmlinger using, for the home workshop. I am this >< close.
I would want to get the largest one and since I rent it woukd be one more huge thing to move when I move out.
