Picked up a ‘99 MIJ 7421 earlier this week. All stock, and the cleanest body I’ve ever seen on an RG from this era. Had one about 15 years ago, and it plays and sounds better than I remember. Oddly, the neck was more beat up than the body, but I was able to lightly sand out all the imperfections. Put a couple coats of tung oil on, steel wooling it today.

The stock pickups are better than I remember, but I want to go with green DiMarzios. What do you guys think about Blaze vs D Actovators?

There’s some debate in another 7421 thread about the control plate for the output jack.

The only photo I forgot to take was the neck pocket, which is painted, so no markings.

Anybody see anything to indicate the body is something other than a ‘99 MIJ 7421?

    Thanks!

Not gonna lie, it kind of looks like someone put an RG7621 neck on an RG7321 body.

    :agreed:

That's the only thing that covers all the bases.

That is most definitely not a MIJ RG7 body, bridge, or pickups.

Well, considering I traded a virtually worthless (fully disclosed at the time) .22 short pistol for the guitar, and I wound up with the awesome neck and a non-shredded body, I suppose I’m still happy.

The seller did not list it as a 7421, just as an old 7 he had no use for.

There's nothing wrong with the RG7321 bodies or hardware, so you definitely still made out wonderfully.

I hope you took that thing apart to clean it.

It’s still pretty dusty. Been a bunch of NGDs in the last few weeks, but I’ll get caught up.

Congrats man. Looks like you’re the one that beat me to this lol. I posted about this guitar here: http://sevenstring.org/threads/thoughts-on-ibanez-7321-mik.335565/. Guy set a time to meet up to sell at his listed price and then never confirmed a place to meet. Said someone offered $200 so he jumped on it. Looks like a solid guitar.

Hmm... definitely didn’t give him $200 for it. Sure would be cool if people would just be straightforward.

Sorry to have inadvertently swiped it out from under you. If I sell it, you’ll be the first to know, and it’s in WAY better shape now than when I got it.
