Hi guys, been outta the guitar world for a bit. (Buying house, renovating it, no time for much else) but anyway, just picked up a rg421 off the bay for a cool $249 usd with case. Any one else own one of these? I see the japan ones are kinda tough to come by. I plan to mod it, not sure what ill be doing yet, but im very excited to get back into it. if any of you modded one, or the 321 or have any thoughts post me up some opinions or pics please, coming up with ideas at the moment. Thanks!

I had one of those not to long ago! I switched out the nut with a graphtech one, changed the tuners to sperzels, moved the volume pot to the tone pot's spot and then put a 3 way toggle in the volume pot's spot, and lastly the pickups were swapped out for Seymour Duncan Black Winters. It sounded awesome!

Basically a 6 string 7421, cheap and basic but very solid for the price. Can't beat them for a modding project.

That's great! I used to have an mij rg470. It played great, but I didn't like the trem. But your rg421 won't have that issue.

Yea, ive never owned a mij ibanez. Played a few, but now that im getting to sit down and dig into it im seeing how superior the japan models are. Definitely worth the wait for a hardtail model, loving it.

I have the two versions of the MII 321s, the RG321MH and the RGR321EX. I put 81/85s on both of them. I hope to get the Prestige 321s (or equivalent) someday.
