That's pretty lame. The voodoo mod sounds like it may be worth looking into why give bad reputation for that?

There's some real arseholes out there. You like that modded 6505+ and he doesn't. So what? I don't like mushrooms. Does someone feel they need to give me negative rep for that? Stupidity at it's best.

Two questions to anyone who owns or knows this guitar or the SC-607B, SC-607 or the Stef 7:

Do you ever have problems hitting the upper EMG with the plectrum while playing?

For a solution, is is possible to lower the pickup?

I played the SC-607B today in a store. It is a very good guitar to me. The only technical problem, I could not find a convenient way to pick with the palm being over the bridge for palm muting (and for muting lower strings while playing upper ones), the position I'd use most of the time. Even with taking care about how to pick, in this position I'd have the problem of hitting the middle pickup every now and then, which is not good.

The large pickup was quite near the strings anyways. I think lowering the middle pickup while letting the bridge pickup be near the strings for output would be a solution. It would be a sacrifice of output on the middle pickup, but I think when playing distorted it would be ok to just always use the bridge pickup or both.

That's exactly what I do on mine. I lower the middle pickup a bit, leave the bridge one very high. It works great, I pick aggressively and i never hit any of the pickups. Also the output of the middle isnt noticibly lower than the bridge really.

Cool. Like how much are you able to lower the pickup?

And, if you have the time to measure, what is the distance between the strings and the pickup in your current setup?

you can actually lower it significantly...not sure how much output you would lose on it though I lowered mine when I first got it but never used the front pick up anyway. Since I quit playing it I just raised it back up to where it was before.

not to :deadhrse: , but EMG was really lame stuffing 7 string pickups in a bass housing. i mean talk about cutting corners. those pickups are just so ridiculously huge. aside from hacking up the the average guitar to install them, i didn't even think about them just being in the way of my pick.

doesn't EMG recommend putting the pickups as clsoe the strings as possible? if you lower them, is that a problem? do you lose too much signal?
