At about 3:13 you can hear a low pitched buzzing type of sound, but I'm not quite sure how it's produced exactly. I've watched countless guitar cover videos, but no one seems to be playing it right. People usually are bending the note, but not applying any vibrato, which there seems to be quite a bit of. Even then, it's a very synthetic tone, not exactly just a guitar with some distortion applied on top. The attack and release is also interesting, almost as if there is a heavy gate applied.

    Any ideas?

I've never heard that song before but when I heard it I thought it was lo-fi backing vocals

If it's a guitar (!) I feel like they're semi-quavers in terms of picking, I wonder if the bending comes from deliberately changing finger pressure rather than bending, some serious compression on it to squash it, is a first thought. Not sure though!

Sounds like a synth riff someone modulated and then sampled/looped. You could probably achieve something similar with a synth pedal. Boss SY-1 mebbe?

Sounds like synth (whether it's a vox sample like @JimF said, idk) that could easily be bent with either a pitch wheel or a Kaoss pad or similar. If I was doing it with a guitar, I'm not much of a pedal guy so idk if there's something that does all that in one but I'd use a fuzz or bit crusher and a whammy pedal. :2c:
