Hey! I'd love to hear some of your suggestions on which finish to choose for this top The reason for me asking is because depending on the colour I might go for scraped body binding (faux binding) and neck + headstock curly maple binding or no binding at all. The build will start very soon and I'm still undecided on the finish (and therefore on the binding) so I need some help with this All other specs are 100% locked. This is the top I am talking about: It will have mixed black and gold hardware almost 100% identical to this Padalka (direct mount black PUs with gold poles, black hipshot contour trem plate + gold saddles, black knobs, black/gold tuning machines) and the fretboard (and headstock cap) will be ebony. So the instrument will have a primarily black theme with gold to spice it up. Here's the pic of the padalka and the hardware colour: So far I've been mostly thinking about a PRS finish called Tiger's Eye, but Ive seen a lot of variations of that finish and so far I like the dark ones the best (mostly brown, dark orange and black colours, little or no yellow and bright orange). If I am to choose this finish I was thinking no binding at all, to keep the dark theme of the instrument flowing better. Other colours Ive considered are dark red cherry (ESP style), Imperial purple (PRS), yellow tiger (PRS) and maybe a completely black stain? I'd looove to hear some suggestions about the finish and the potential bindings (or lack of them). Plastic/celluloid bindings are out of the questions - either curly maple or nothing at all. My main goal is to keep this instrument classy Thanks a lot for all the suggestions.
