Guitar Center will try to sell visibly-damaged gear as new, but they draw the line at selling pedals made by someone who is crankypants & incoherent online.

No, no, no. The founding fathers, cartographers, Christopher Columbus, Donald Glover, Jeopardy contestants -- they're all smart enough to know because they tell you what is America.

I always heard the JHS guy was a tool but seeing him call out police brutality, give a damn good statement (more than just "racism bad please love us" like most brands are doing), and donating sales to local black charities is fucking great of him.

So yeah. Props to Robert and Joshua for showing how it's done.

So who on here works at GC and can get me an OCD Ge on the cheap? ;)

I want to do my part by removing that filthy bastard's pedals from your store and into my home where they belong.

There was a rumor he worked for a homophobic church, and he says he only did some freelance work or something.

And honestly reading more into it, it's more of the fact I guess he does mostly clone pedals? idk.

He spoke, people reacted, It's life. This is not a freedom of speech issue, no one is controlling what he says.

But if he said he was gay, and GC ended his contract, then he could sue them.

In this case, he said he was against the riots, GC ended his contract,,, and hes SOL?

So basically, anyone who expresses conservative views risks not getting business? Or how actors in hollywood who express being conservative, cant get work?

But if you say you don't believe transgendered people have a physiological issue, that they need psychiatric help, even if this is supported by science, your business can go down in flames?

Something very wrong here. This is not freedom of speech.

Your problem is with free market capitalism, not the First Amendment.

Sexual orientation is a protected class. Being a dick is not. Again, people not understanding the constitution 101.

And transgendered people don't need psychiatric help, according to science.

Sure seems you have a problem with folks electing not to spend thier money where they choose.

Also, cut it out with the homophobia and transphobia, we have members here who fall into both groups. This will be your last warning in that regard.

You are free to say what you want, but not free from repercussions whatever those may be, getting fired, having your business suffer loss, being dropped by the team you play for etc etc.

People will vote with their wallet, if he chose to make a stupid comment, regardless of the current climate, people will vote with their wallet. GC/Musicians friend is a business, if they feel like they want to "Virtue signal" by dropping someone who says stupid things, thats them voting with their wallet.

Now you have a choice, if you don't like that you can shop elsewhere.

    see how it works?

I'm Canadian and I know what the 1st Amendment means. It means that the GOVERNMENT can't punish you for saying something. Meaning, that if you say somehting in a public forum (print/video/internet forum, etc..) as long as it's not a death threat/threat of violence/etc..., you can't be arrested for it.

In very much the same way, citizens are 100% free to answer back. Whether it be to answer back with facts or in this case ceasing to sell someone's products, it's the way it is.

It's like people have been saying, people are absolutely free to say whatever crazy asinine thing they want. HOWEVER, other people have the very same right to respond in kind. This is more an argument about civility. If you are a business owner and decide to put out a public statement, you need to think carefully about what you say because it could end up upsetting people who may choose to not buy things from you any more because of it. It has nothing to do with the Constitution, if someone says something and others take offence/disagree, that's how it works.

The 1st just protects people from criminal prosecution (depending on what was said). Otherwise, Trump would have been removed from office ages ago for lying/misleading statements.
