Rather then drop $$$ on a G Major 2, I'm going to try running my new rack preamp in the loop of my GSP 1101. Anybody run their GSP 1101 this way? Anything I should know? It has the C63 firmware.
    Thanks in advance.

IIRC the GSP1101 was one of the first multi-FXs that was optimized to be ran via the 4CM, so it shouldn't be a problem at all.

I know Chris on MG.org ran his GSP as an FX unit for his 6505+, which is pretty close to what he's doing. Maybe talk to him?

    Thanks, I'll ask over there.

Before I bought a Mooer Radar, I ran my Pod X3 into the loop of the GSP to use the IR loader all the time. It worked like a charm to be honest.
The reasons I switched to the Radar is because a)the 1101 can only store 10 IRs and b) It was kind of annoying having to fire up the GSP just to use the cab sims.

So yeah, if you have any pre amp pedals, you can just connect them to the fx loop and when you put it into "external preamp" mode, it'll basically just 'replace' the internal amp in the signal chain with whatever you have connected in the loop.

Sounds good. Also saves me a bunch of cash.

Yes, works perfectly, and you can put the gate after everything while still tracking the guitar input. I did start getting ground loops though.

What was your setup that was causing ground loops?

Furman M-8Lx, Mesa Rectifier Preamp, GSP1101, Mesa Stereo 2:50, Mesa Recto 412. Tried isolation tabs, Lifted the ground on the preamp solved it.

I run 4cm with either my rm100 or Peavey Ultra. Then on top of that I run a 6505mh in my Patchmate as a preamp. I sometimes have problems with noise when using the mh as a preamp. I don't remember if the 1101 has a ground lift too, I'll have to check. I also wonder if its that the loops in the switcher are bufferen and I'm getting too hot of a signal into the preamp of the mh.

Well, after all that I ordered a used G Major 2 off of GC Used. I may still try the GSP though.

Sometimes deals are too good to pass up. That & options are always nice to have.

G-major is a great unit, G-system is even better.
