I picked up a Michael Kelly 5-string fretless acoustic bass a few days ago. I got a pretty good deal on it (I think), talked 'em down from $600 to $400 because its a little banged up (you could tell its been in the store for a while). Unfortunately, the oh-so-knowledgeable employees at Guitar Center didn't realize that electric bass strings don't really belong on an acoustic bass...so it sounds like poop until the new strings come in.

Looks gorgeous! How does it play? I've got my eyes on a Tacoma acoustic.

hehe yeah I go there also! same user-name

I fiddled around on a Tacoma Thunderchief at GC with flatwounds on it. It was way out of my price-range, but sounded awesome, had good volume...I don't know a whole lot about acoustic basses, but that Tacoma is prolly worth the high price. I think it was pre-owned for $900:scratch:
