Ratt comes to mind.
Racer X-Second Heat
One from Metallica might be a cool song to play together. Obviously, you'd have to play Kirk's lead parts in the beginning since you're more experienced while your GF plays James' parts.
A lot from BlindGuardian.
Also: Green grass and hide tides.
Death “voice of a soul”
One of my favorite songs to play. She could learn the acoustic parts or maybe the harmony to the lead
Something off By Inheritance by Artillery maybe?
I always thought Phantoms of Death had very interesting guitars. For the main riff the two guitars are each playing a different riff. It almost sounds like they couldn't decide which riff to use so they just did both at the same time. It sounds really cool and different. It's my favorite song from that album.
Avenged Sevenfold or Black Veil Brides?
Can she handle Nevermore?
Come on @narad, I know you're busy scalping BOSS pedals, but let us know if we're on the right path.
Lol, for real -- shipping that out during golden week was a lot of hassle. That and we did the whole Reverb Pedal Movie instead of playing today.
Yea, thanks for all the suggestions guys. I've only managed to go through about 1/10th of the suggestions so far but seems promising. It did kind of remind me as well that my first times playing out with people where the fun of the a band setting was with punk stuff, and that usually had lots of complementary simple parts. The Amott brothers are like an aspirational goal.
I was coming to say Emperor IX Equilibrium stuff, but that's probably not in the right ballpark.
Maybe in 2023. She's basically at the Megadeth/Metallica rhythm riff stage.
For 2 guitar players huh?
Hangar 18 by Megadeth is the first that comes to mind. Maiden and Priest, as mentioned before. Korn has songs that sound stupid when only on part is played but with both guitars it makes it whole, like Chi for example.
Emperor, but that is a lot harder to play.
Cradle of Filth has/had a bunch of songs that used two guitars.
All of Chon has dual guitars playing complimentary parts, there's some great songs that range from relatively simple to moderately difficult you can learn with your buddy.
Periphery and Polyphia havent come up yet...
Anything Lamb of God off of Palaces or Ashes is a fun challenge
But Periphery is 3 guitar parts, so that's more Polyamory.
