While I'm not anywhere near a gigging musician, I still think about what kind of music I want to make. I have two sounds I have in my head that stand out, one being a doom metal band akin to While Heaven Wept. However the other idea is having a power metal band with black metal influences. Two genres that are often super cheesy merged into one. This one intrigues me quite a bit cause I can't find any bands that might fit that mold; and so I can't quite think of how it would sound. I might just have to experiment.

If anyone knows any bands that fit the description of "blackened power metal" hit me up.

    Black metal... cheesy... ?

    I...

I'll put aside my disapproval for now. ;)

Why not just experiment and see what you come up with? If another band was already doing it it wouldn't be nearly as worth doing, right?

I think that about every combination of metal styles does already exist, although the labeling would depend so much on personal opinion that it's hardly worth making an attempt at examples. (for me anyways ) My personal definition/examples of "power metal" isn't anything like what is commonly cited.

    Featured bands - Metal Storm

    one direct result-
Bal-Sagoth - Symphonic black, Blackened power

    also see-
    Elexorien - Symphonic power, Black
Litrosis - Symphonic black, Extreme power
Satan's Host - US power, Blackened death, Blackened heavy

Interesting idea, along with thrash and speed metal, two influencers of black metal I see- punk and power metal like Mercyful Fate/King Diamond. The power metal variety is more melodic, flowing, symphonic, ect. Whereas punk is more simplistic, aggressive. Maybe someone more qualified has a better explanation.

Deafheaven isn't really "blackened power metal", but sounds the closest to this description. Cheerful, happy shoegaze/post-rock influenced black metal, although it does have some somewhat "sad melodies". If you could pull off a "happy riff only" Deafheaven then it'd be pretty close to "blackened power metal" I guess. Add some "epic" synths and clean vocals once in a while. Lyrics could be fun. Happy dragons offering virgins to satan in the frostbitten nekrokvlt woods?

This is something I've discussed with friends before, and it does unofficially exist, Bal-Sagoth and I'd argue modern Dimmu Borgir fit the description!

Weren't some of the guys in Dragonforce originally in a black metal band that shifted toward power? Demoniac or something along those lines? I must confess I've never been bothered to check them out, but may be worth considering...

Bal-Sagoth, like mentioned. The first Arthemesia album has a few songs that fit the power label pretty much, but they're labeled as melodic black metal on metallum.

I guess another take would be just the darker power metal songs, like Nightwish's 'Devil & the Deep Dark Ocean' and 'The Pharaoh Sails to Orion'. I guess they're called symphonic metal nowadays, but the power metal bits are what I personally love in the darker context, such a nice contrast.

Sounds like a fun thing regardless, there isn't enough of interesting power metal in the world.

Bal-Sagoth and Demoniac were the first things that sprung to mind.

How the hell did I not know Dragonforce was a Blackened power metal band before Dragonforce. Personally I like them better like that. Tooo funny.

    Just write music.

If your influences are as influential as you claim, they'll all end up in the awesomesauce mixing pot™ naturally. Don't write specifically within the bounds of genre otherwise you end up with sucky-sounding fake music that doesn't really reflect your creativity. You seem like a guy who knows what kind of sound he's aiming for, so just go ahead and play. :D

I imagine King Diamond singing over blast beats. Doesn't sound half bad...
