I've kinda had a falling out with modern metal over the last couple years but I just had to do this lol.
I love going against the grain so heres some modern metal with a squier 60s classic vibe jaguar with single coils, into an earthquaker devices spires double fuzz boosting a Dr scientist frazz dazzler fuzz into a vintage peavey PA amp! (into a Mesa recto 2x12 w/ V30s)

I usually hate single coils but that sounds great! I guess stacking fuzzes will put some thickness back in though haha.

Ive found that using single coils sounds incredible when you crank your lows to compensate, the singles make the mids/highs nice and gritty, mix in those lows down the line and it just sounds huge and mean as hell!
Keep in mind its a classic vibe jag so those are essentially 60s single coil PUs too!

Sounds awesome! Fuzz boosting fuzz? Doesn't even sound like fuzz to me, surprisingly tight and articulate.

Thanks, the frazz is super thick and has an insane amount of low end, like I basically have it at zero (9 o clock) and it's still really hefty sounding but the spires tightens it up surprisingly well.
In all it still is pretty loose but with a heavy muting hand and string control it obviously works.

How do you deal with single coil hum? I've tried this with my strat and you can always hear the hum and noise even through the distortion.

I had an isp mini decimator after the 2 fuzzes. It Was a bit noisy. Otherwise maybe I didn't have too much a problem because I was only playing at low apartment volume

which? My pink squier classic vibe is wonderful! And my new fender vinteras modified HH is Beautiful!
BOTH still need to be set up with thicker strings as tuning stability at drop c sucks but that's kind of expected. But I'm loving them. I think I actually like the squier more! $1000 less and honestly it feels and looks like the same quality

ha, wooaahh there, the video is lazy but thanks, I do appreciate it! I dont upload much but go sub for more future fun!

Its just beautiful! And personally I just LOVE binding. I think it's criminally underpriced. Though I hear the price is going up so grab em while you can!

Could you do a single track demo of just the guitar and go over your settings? This is exactly the kind of thing I've been looking for. I prefer to play with single coils but every attempt to beef it up for metal was just so noisy that I just gave up and tossed an hss guard on my strat. I'd really love to be able to get this kind of brutality out of a single coil without so much background hiss, buzz, and hum. My dream is to use my strat for everything. Going from clean twangy stuff to brutal metal without swapping guitars or pickups.

Well what youre hearing is mostly just a single track (the other track i played a bit messier so it's lower volume than the better track lol)
If you go to the youtube channel I believe I have all the settings listed there.
The peavey pa amp has a built in graphic eq and is boosted a bit in the highs and lows about 6db at 100hz and like 3dB around 1khz/3khz/7khz.

Id rather not do another video with the same set up but I could just render one single track from that and send it to you or something, or post it on soundcloud
