I'd just get ceramic Nailbomb or Warpig set over P90s. But if you want P90s I like the Supermassive!

How do you like the Pig-90? It's got me intrigued.

Hey, Zimbloth! I want a pair of BKP for this guitar and I've been advised to pickup the alnico Blackhawks (because ceramic could sound a bit too open and djentish). I've heard they sound like passive EMG 81s, and I find it a bit compressed for my likes (though I have a 81+89 set and I'll keep it). I love most kinds of metal, but especially progressive and death. What do you think, mate?

    Body: Mahogany with walnut top
    Neck: Pau ferro/maple/ovangkol
    Fingerboard: Maple

I don't recommend the alnico Blackhawks really. In your guitar I would recommend either the Warpig set (ceramic bridge), the Holydiver set, or the Painkiller/VH2 set. I vastly prefer ceramic Blackhawks over the alnico. Yes its a bi more compressed but its also much tighter and clearer. The alnico Blackhawk has a weird midrange sound that doesn't sit right with me.

Does the painkiller/vh2 work better together than a painkiller/emerald set?

Thanks a lot, Nick. Do you really think the C-pig would suit that guitar? It's a middle-warm oriented combination of wood. I don't know much about the holydiver or painkiller, but I'd like it to be oriented to progresive and extreme metal

    They're both great options.

Progressive and extreme metal are two different things, but yeah those all should sound good with that guitar. The Painkiller is pretty much full on brutal. As is the Warpig. If you want something aggressive but also very versatile, I think the Rebel Yell, C-Nailbomb, or Holydiver would be good choices.

I know progressive and extreme metal are different, but I was looking for something able to do both (if that is possible). Thanks for the recommendations, I find the Painkiller a bit too treblish so I think I'm definitely going for the Nailbomb+Cold Sweat combo.

The Nailbomb is just as bright as the Painkiller. As is the Cold Sweat. Try one of the others I suggested.

Hey Nick! What do you recommend in a Music Man JPX with the chambered Alder body mahoganey tone block maple top and Ebony fretboard.

Lot of different tone woods there. Currently it has the crunch lab/liquifire combo. Thanks

Is that the 6-string one? What tuning are you using?

    I wouldn't recommend that.

I figured they would be good considering the JPX has Alder body/maple top and Misha designed the Juggs with his Alder body/maple top guitars. The mahoganey tone block of the JPX also would blend well with the ceramic bridge as I thought ceramic is good for mahogoney bodied guitars.

Hey Nick, getting a Carvin DC700 this week with stock D26 pickups which will be getting ripped out immediately!

    Specs are:
    25.5 scale
    Koa body/neck
    Quilt maple top/flame maple fretboard
    OFR

    Tuned to B standard

I'm looking for something versatile, I play hard rock Shinedown/Alter Bridge like stuff to modern metal. What would you recommend?

I stand behind my recommendations 100%. I do not suggest those.

I would recommend the Emeralds or Nailbombs with a ceramic bridge in that one.
