I don't know much about Kickstarter, but I didn't expect an established company to use it.

For $4,995 you can get one of 25 limited edition 21st anniverary classic power amps, updated with the Fryette logo.

FRYETTE 21st Anniversary Classic Stereo Power Amplifier by Fryette Amplification — Kickstarter

    That sounds awesome. :D

Would be pretty cool if they also reissued the 2150.

I don't get it, really. Kickstarter is supposed to offer different degrees of "pledging" giving people different stuff according to their pledge:
    fictitious exemple:
1$ you get a fryette decal if the project reaches its goal
5$ you get a fryette patch
    etc
    etc
    4K5 gives you an amp.

So if you pledge 4K5 you get an amp, but pledging less gives you...well, nothing. Saying this since one person pledged 1$ already.

^ yeah that lonely 1$ has been pledged for at least a week now

In my opinion Fryette should be moving forward, not looking back. A little over a month ago when I went to their shop to pick up my 2/90/2 they had an 11r/hdpro/gp3/etc all hooked up to their new lxII poweramp along with some mystery device that they've posted pictures to their facebook of. Alot of talent and creativity in that shop and I really hope he brings his focus back to getting the lxII out there.

Don't get me wrong though, those Classics look like beasts

It's a lot of money for just a power amp (no doubt there are more expensive ones out there though).

I'm sure part of that is to cover the retooling costs, but once he has that covered, I wonder if these will come back at a lower price point?

i'd really like to see Fryette make a more saturated high gain head, with more tonal shaping possibilities. the pitbull heads are great, but dry as fuck, the the 5 band fixed eq sliders have been done, some else would be sweet, like a mid sweep knob for dark to bright and inbetween mid tones, high and low pass knobs for tightening lows and rolling off some highs, shit like that.

i agree in that i would rather see something new than old

Not necessarily. This one is just to gauge interest for the power amp, no wasting time for anything else. If the idea has enough interest/pledges, the power amps will be made; if not, they won't. It's an expensive little pet project for the company, so it makes sense to see if people are actually interested.

The $1 was pledged as a joke.

Now this seems like a much better idea to me. Let's just stick a knob labeled saturation right on the front panel (others amps have similar features)... along with more preamp gain.

Yeah, saturation would be cool, but I love the dryness. I like that the pitbulls are ridiculously dry. But they do have others (Siggy) that are more saturated. If I had unlimited income I might go for one of these classics, since I am a HUGE Fryette fan, but that's way out of my league.

Regarding the kickstarter stuff, I personally never understood why anyone would pledge anything under the amount to actually acquire the product being made. Seems like just a way to give away your money.

"The only risk we anticipate is that backer participation may exceed the offer. The only challenge we see is to politely explain to those who miss out that we have committed to producing 25 of this beautiful piece and we must keep our word to our valued backers that only 25 amplifiers will be produced."

    Uh oh... Seriously?

^ Yeah, artificial scarcity, a good way to keep up the perception that something is more valuable than it really is.

I wonder what the "Gain I", depth and presence knobs on Fryette's do. Anyone know?

Hopefully people don't pledge money and then Steve changes the name of the company again without paying them back

Also - why are people donating random amounts of money. Either donate $4995 or nothing. Thats how this one works, kids!
