    Hey guys!

My JP6 is in dire need of a fret level and I was wondering where I could take it to get that done? The music shop in my area doesn't really have the tools for it. I found this place online Arlington Fret Works - Services. Are they reputable? If not where are some places that I can send my guitar to?

    Thanks guy!

I had previously sold guitars before that I didn't feel like investing a refret in. I ended up biting the bullet and with about $60-75 worth of stuff from StewMac and putting some time and care into it only to come out realizing how amazing a level and crown is on a played guitar or a guitar that hadn't gotten a perfect fret job out of the factory. It's a skill worth knowing, not horribly complicated and tools worth having.

If you want the best possible fret dressing, you might think about getting it Plek'ed:

Plek Machine | Austin Guitar Repair

My Gibson Les Paul came plek'ed from the factory and it allows the lowest action of all my guitars.

I thought about getting my guitar plekd but I'm not really looking to spend that kind of money on this guitar until I get it re-fretted with stainless steel.

It would be cool to do it but, this is my only six string and I really want it to be done right.

They do that too, don't they?

I would always do the first own fret job on a cheap guitar. That's what every luthier did ... learning on an El Cheapo.

There are quality luthiers in Nashville. Has to be. Too many working guitarists living there. Probably too far to drive but the actual ship time would be less.

Why not ask them with a short email?

PS: Asking them is not needed, they do it:

But 500 bucks is pretty shocking and should include the Plek service.
