I just still can't take the sprints seriously. They feel like a sideshow in what is supposed to be the most advanced motorsport, and this one was somehow worse than the sham quali ones. Watching a bunch of teams running around with clown shoes on because there has been essentially no practice is not my idea of a good race weekend. Between weird quali where drivers end up out of place, second "quali" that doesn't mean anything, and pitting in a goddamn 17-lap run because nobody was prepared for how bad softs would be, this whole thing feels like a farce. And the points haul is both too low to incentivize teams to go hard, as well as high enough to dilute the championship points earning.

No chance Checo wins the WDC, but I do think he will be leading the championship after today. There's no denying he has really stepped up his game this year and has been on a hell of a tear the last few races. Haven't been super impressed with Max's performance lately but counting out Max long-term is like counting out Mercedes - not a safe way to place your bets.

Checo effed it up, yep. I am very happy for Alonso, of course. Without Checo there is one chance more for him to win the 33 but I am pretty sure the qualy was a lot more intense and fun than the race is going to be today. Monaco. That's it.

Well, there's one thing I was wrong... The race was also fun to watch and that's a nice surprise since it was Monaco.

No surprises but the rain was nice to watch. Checo had no chance, Alonso maximized his opportunities, Ferrari effed up Sainz with the strategy, Mercedes did not let Russell pass even though he had more pace at the moment, Williams was a shitshow, Lando delivered (nornal under rain)...

Yeah, typical race 🤣

RIP Dilano Van 't Hoff.

Fault of race direction and Spa not taking safety seriously. Eau Rouge/Radillion just needs to be reworked and we need a lot more space for stricken cars to escape.

Dig up the hill and move the straight away from the cliff edge so there's run off. I love Spa as much as anyone, but it is not safe as it is.

All those penalties brought a whole new dimension to this track lol

If it was only one or two drivers, that'd be on them, but half of the damn field received at least a fiver, some even ten and more hours aftet the race, pretty stupid looking

So who do we think is getting Perez's seat

Yeah he needs to get his shit together during qualification, its getting embarassing. But I have no clue who I'd get in his seat, Alpha Tauri is nowhere being competitive and neither Tsunoda or De Vries have shown consistency or great driving so far this year. My guess is that Perez will keep his seat for another season and then will get bumped unless the two aforementionned drivers actually step up.

And how refreshing to see McLaren and even Williams showing decent pace, Aston Martin is starting to loose their edge as the mid pack is getting more and more competitive (beside Haas, Alpha Tauri and Alfa Romeo). Makes the choices for the Fantasy League I'm in more and more complicated.

One or two fails more by Checo and I see Ricciardo in his seat.

Other teams have evolved more than Aston Martin in the last few races, for sure, but their jump front from last season to this is similar to the one of McLaren from beginning of this season to now. Very impressive. Both teams, like Williams, using Mercedes engines and getting better results than Mercedes itself... Beware 🤣

I think todays race is going to be fun, except for Verstappen who will win, of course.

I loved Lando's interview after qualy 🤣🤣

It was a race. Good to see McLaren up there. It is a shane Piastri was badly affected by the safety car because he was a worthy 3rd but that's how races are.

Ferrari failling on strategy (they should have fought for podium) and on track (both Sainz and Leclerc commited mistakes). Mercedes lacking speed, Aston Martin another step back...

I was praying for rain, for the extra chaos, but good in the end.

The best the first 5 laps hahahaha

Shades of Ferrari 2019. New TD, suddenly RB lost all their pace. Will be interesting to see if this is a one-off or if it continues moving forward.

If your pace comes from cheating, they'll always get you eventually

What does "TD" stands for again?

I wouldn't rule RedBull out, the field is usually closet to them in qualy but in race they are hard to match.
