    Yay bass!

    :agreed:

I'm a 5-string guy myself. Never been into 6, and a 4-string always feels a bit small to me.

My old bassist in my previous band (Marble Drag Race) used to play a 5 string...that was before I picked up 7's and now he's at a proper music university/college learning Jazz composition. He was awesome.

I play 4 string from time to time, can't say I'm any good but I like being able to play my own bass parts on songs so I can show them to prospective bass players.

I play bass about as much as I play guitar, and I'd say my abilities on both are about equal. I have a Fender Jazz Bass V and it'd be the second thing I'd grab if the house caught fire (first would by my Seagull S12+, and to round out my top-5: Firewire harddrive, laptop, Squier...simply because it was my first guitar and it has it's own charm that I haven't been able to find in any other guitars).

Being a Luthier and mainly a bass player, I have several basses to choose from in my stash.
The two bands I play in are Jam Bands with one being more funk oriented.
With both bands, I mainly switch between 5 string fretted and 5 string fretless, but with the funk band, some songs I play a 6 string fretted.
On occasion, I play with a solo acoustic guitarist and I usually play my 7 string fretless as the hich C & F gives a nice texture on those gigs where there is alot of soloing. Sitting around the house, I`m always gravitating towards the 7.

6 string Brice, and a 4 string Washburn. I'd like a 5 string, because 6 strings kinda suck for da poppin'

Yeah, I can honestly say that the only thing I wish I had right now was a nice Ampeg rig (Probably an SVT-3 Pro with a 4x10 and 1x15). Though the Line6 LowBottom does a really decent immitation.

I have a 6 string bass. Woohoo! :woohoo:

There isn't much else to it. I gave it to my bass player and I'm letting him keep it until he gets a new one.

Five string guy here. Picked up a bass for the first time about 2 years after I started playing guitar. I don't practice it as much as I should, but I still play whenever I get the chance.

Sorry for the late reply. Ibanez, what else? :)

Honestly I love Modulus basses, with the graphite necks, but they're some serious coin. The Yamaha 5-strings are great too IMO, and my favorite bass I ever played was an $800 Ibanez Ergodyne from about 5 years ago. Great basses.

here's mine, an Ibanez SG 5-string. This is the bass I played on my solo album and on my upcoming album. I love the sound of it for the money:

I'm a four stringer. But I want a cutom 7 (E A D G C F Bb tunning), and will probably get a six tuned E-F to tie me over. My style just works better on and extened range bass.

:agreed: 5-string basses for me too. I love the Ibanez Soundgear basses the most.

I don't know why, but I can't stand 5 string basses. :erk: It seems as though nearly everyone here has a 5. Oh well, it's probably because I care more about note range than heaviness. (That explains why I want an 8 string guitar so badly too, even though I want the F# string...)

Anyway, to each their own... :nlb:

I play the other half's bass occasionally. Not much, but it is really fun from time to time!

I have an ESP F-205 w/ EMG DC40s. It's fine. I will say one thing, after I play on that thing for a few minutes, guitar feels like a toy and I can shred like never before. It's like a powerboost hah.
