Who do you prefer listening to? A Freddy Fender or a Donny Gibson? You are the referee...you decide.:hbang:

You're just looking to start a war aren't you? : ) I chose Ibanez, but I prefer Fender over Gibson. Fender just are so versatile and have that sound.

In terms of guitars, I'm normally in the Ibanez camp. However, their lineup in the last few years hasn't impressed me so I've started branching out. Of all of the companies putting out guitars, Fender has been knocking it out of the park imo. Picked up an Indo Special Edition telecaster and absolutely love it. Their more recent Jackson lineup isn't as impressive and I'd like to see the superlight line make a return, but overall, Fender and all its subsidiaries are making the best guitars. It's awesome to see that we're in a moment in time where the companies are recognizing a shift in the customer base and putting out new products to address that. Granted, Ibanez has done this continuously over the years with whatever has been "popular" in the metal mainstream with the Ironlabel to address the popularity of Metalcore and the plethora of extended range, extended scale guitars to appease the djent crowd. The evolution is great and Ibanez has been the first to adjust their lineup to match. However, to me, it's less impressive than a company like Fender who has stuck to the traditional strat and tele for so long and is recognizing the need to finally take risks with new things. It's always been one of those cases where a person would say "I really wish Fender would ___________, but I guess I'll just get an Ibanez." Now, that isn't the case, because Fender at last did what people wanted from them. And they're not the only ones. With PRS coming out with their S2 line, they've address a gap in their user base with a much more affordable American made guitar. People who didn't want a Korean made PRS can now have an affordable option for an American one. Additionally, PRS can compete with Fender and Gibson in that price-point and we're the ones that are benefiting from it. We now have MUCH more options than we did 10 years ago.

If there's ever been a better time to start buying up guitars, it's now and it's great.

Gimme a Gibson LP with the slim taper neck everyday over everything else, except maybe an ESP.

Only negative is that I'm worried about the headstock snapping off when it falls on the ground. Hasn't happened as of yet.

@BlackSG91 you've made two fatal mistakes. First, that anybody would actually read beyond the thread title, and second, that anybody would get the joke.

That said, forget Gibson or Fender, I'll take Jackson (Browne) any day.

What, couldn't find you a Johnny Ibanez to post for the third option?

I would've preferred Carmen Ibanez personally.
