My local guitar center had one and i spent an hour with it. Pretty nice! Craftmanship was top notch. It had a gloss neck, which doesn’t bother me but will bother others. Really enjoyed playing it.

I was considering one for a while, especially because I had really been wanting something that sounds like a Tele, but doesn't necessarily have to look like one. I ended up going with an Ibanez Prestige Talman instead because it has better electronics, pickups, and hardware, plus I prefer 22 frets and a 12" radius fretboard. Very happy with mine since I'm an Ibanez fanboy anyway, but part of me still wants to build an offset partscaster someday!

Offset Tele? I look at that and see Jazzmaster immediately with a Tele layout, so you're just getting two-crowds lukewarm on one thing and I'm sure neither will really want it as it's not "their" guitar.

Meanwhile my Talman still looks infinitely better than what this was supposed to be.

Boutique builders have been getting $3k+ a pop for this stuff for decades.

That's kind of the point of the whole Parallel Universe series. Take the mashups that have been selling well, and FMIC was missing out on, and make them marketable to the majority of Fender players.

Besides, while everyone loves Jazzmasters, no one seems to really dig how they sound, which is why all the best-selling offsets of the last several years have used just about every pickup but tradition Jazzmaster pickups.

Ah, guess you can't really know what you don't look at - I've never been in the market for a custom so I wouldn't assume something as simple as a Tele setup on a JM body would be moving like gangbusters. Just seems so obvious that if it was selling like that before, why wait so long to try and move in on the market now?

these are pretty popular combos with parts builders. I see a lot of guys in the partscaster group I'm part of that do telemasters or whatever you want to call em.

Jazzmaster is the superior body shape in terms of comfort out of the box imo.

This is clearly wrong because the Tele shape is best.

But the offset Anderson and suhr guitars with Tele pickup configurations are sexy af

Best shape != best comfort, which is why that award can go to Telecaster for best shape, but Jazzmaster is comfy as all hell

For the standard Tele shape I’d agree but most of the boutique guys do a modified Tele so it’s a bit of a toss up.

Does fender make a Tele with a forearm contour and a tummy cut? I’ve never bought a fender so I dunno.

Tele is a great shape, at least when I put a belly carve and forearm contours on it. People that like noncontoured teles are uncultured savages

No the Tele definitely needs the contour and the carve. People that like the regular Tele are just nonsense

I've looked high and low for one, and I've found that it's either a Kotzen sig (1.1-1.5K), and possibly a Deluxe Tele from when they were MIJ (which seems odd that Fenders at any point where MIJ?), but nothing mid-to-low tier that has those features.

To Tele purists, those features are sacrilege

A few of them right now, and some here and there over the years.

The $600 Player HH series Teles have belly cuts and a radius'd forearm contour. I want to say the $500 Modern Player models have the same, but it might just be the belly cut.

I must be an idiot then since any photo I've seen of the Player series doesn't show it. Maybe they were older or didn't have it on some, but I've never seen one for whatever reason  Not that I should since the last thing I need to do is consider buying one when I need to record an album with the guitar I already ya know, OWN

It's only certain Player models like the HH.

Blacktop teles and fmt's have the tummy cut. I dont think the forearm contour is common.

They probably have more with forearm contour now than they even have.

I think five or six. Haven't checked everything though. It's mostly on the Parallel Universe, Elite models and a Sig or two.
