Does it have to be one that I have owned? If so I would have to echo the 1527. I got lucky with mine though, and had one with an especially round neck. You guys know how Ibby necks can be with their super pronounced shoulders. This one was the exact opposite. I have tried others since, but none have felt quite like it.

If i get to pick any one ever made, it's either a UV7PWH or a 540s7. Those are two grail guitars for me.

1527 or 7620
Didn't play my 7620 a lot and I hated the color (Vampires Kiss) so I got rid of it.

A while after found a killer deal on a new 1527 so snagged one. (They were blowing out the 2004/ big dot models for super cheap)
Hate the stock pickups in the 1527. Not a fan of 25.5 either but it is super easy to play. The Cosmic Blue (purple...) color is kind of meh but at least its not plain old black, I think I would like it more if it was a hard tail as I Just cant be bothered with double locking trems any more.

I never play my 1527 any more really and have been thinking about selling it off for something else.

I have tried a couple Premiums and Iron Labels but none of them really did it for me.

It is a 2027xvv, it was apparently refinished very well/professionally at some point in its life. I think it has had a few owners who had no idea what it was. When I got it, the wiring was screwed etc but the piezzo worked.

Anyhow, it plays great now and is one of a kind, even though it has a lot of battle scars now. And i scored it very cheap :)

The only Ibanez 7s I've played are two 7620BKs I owned, an old Japanese 7421BK I owned, an old school 7321BK I owned, my cousin's 1527RB, and some kind of premium RG7 a few years ago in a shop.

7620 was best to me with the 1527 a very close second. The 7620 had a better trem, better pickups, and a faster feeling neck. The 1527 has a bit thicker neck of a different profile that is also wider. The 7421 felt fast like the 7620 but had that shitty fixed bridge and the same pickups as the 1527. The 7321 was the Indo version with binding and was pretty rough but fast. The premium was a slight step up from the 7321. It had maple neck binding and some fancy wood neck and the fret ends were balled over to look like a J Custom but they were still as rough as the standard Indo 7321. I still haven't played an Indo Ibanez that can compete with a Japanese Ibanez.

I love those guitars as well, have 2 of my own, one bought new in 2001/2 and the second about 7 years ago. I've gutted them too many times to count, different wiring configurations on the mags until I settled for a Freeway switch 5B5-01 on both. The KJG mod was mandatory, but what brought them to shine was the saddle swap between them. These come originally with alternating color/phase piezos (white and black wires) and that is a NO-GO for mixing with mags. So, as mine came with the piezos in mirrored order, I swapped 3 from each other, so one has all white and the other all black wire piezos... and it's a bliss to mix them piezos with mags!...

If you ever need spare piezos or a preamp, call/email LR Baggs support service, they've helped me a lot in the past with these as well as with other guitars (an S2120X-AV and a piezo modded RG1527RB)... great people there.

Yeah that is unfortunate. The 2 I had were also extremely neck heavy. I can only imagine how bad it is on the XL.

My very first 7 was an Ax7521, and to this day I’d rank it’s neck among the most comfortable 7s I’ve played:agreed:
Always love an S7420 as well, I’ve missed out on two for sale semi-locally in as many years, but I’m working on a stand-in…

I really want to try an XL RG7. I briefly owned an og 2228 and hated the bridge and pickups. The scale was too short for F# but it felt great to play on otherwise.

My RGD7UCS. I wish they would do another run of these with a flamed maple top. The fretwork/stainless steel frets are immaculate. I also love the aftermaths.

I'll take a 1997 RG7620 any day of the week, but after that this RG3727 has been an amazing one to own. Once I pulled those god awful PAF pickups and put in Suhrs it's been a shred machine. mduzgbpri68vyakclbn3.jpg
