Yeah I've been keeping an eye on this. Wanted to make a thread on it but I didn't want to jump the gun. It's supposed to be a 30th anniversary pedal and the PSA didn't come out until like 1994, but all signs point to it being a PSA. It hasa Buzz control, the first letter looks like a "P" and the last letter is an A.

It's for the 30th anniversary of Tech21, not an individual item.

Yeah I know. The company was founded in 1989. I was just expecting an updated version of the Sansamp "classic" or GT2. But I'm not gonna complain about a mini PSA. Always wanted one.

Granted, it may be the company's 30th anniversary but that doesn't mean it has to be the first product they ever made (they've already put out a re-issue of the "classic" Sansamp that has all the dip-switches on the front). The PSA has been a flagship product of theirs for years and it would only make sense that with all of the interest in floor based pre-amps as of late, it only makes sense that they would put out a "limited edition" Fly Rig version of the PSA. If it sells really well, they just might put it into regular production.
As for a release date, someone on the Gear Page posted that they're supposed to make an 'official' announcement next week.

I am curious about this also. I was thinking about the PSA-1 the other day, wondering what they are going for these days. I had one years ago, and could probably make better use of it now that I know more. Would be killer with something like a G-Major II with a programmable EQ.

"Brand new" here in Canada, they're selling for $599, which would be roughly $450 or so US. Used (if you can find one) they're probably a lot cheaper than that.

BTW here's the picture that pretty much confirms it's a PSA stomp.

    That'd be awesome!

I think they can fit it in smaller format now with computer chip advancement and whatnot.

I still have one of these as my mainstay in the studio, probably never getting sold.

Yup, I need it. Both the Amp1 Iridium and this will fuck me over.

Also that looks like a cab sim defeat switch. Even more reasons to check this out.

Wow, the digital and analog brilliance to the PSA-1 on floor pedal?

Now, I know where the Xmas money will be going :)

Ok. Educate a noob. Does the PSA have the same tone as a Sansamp GT? What amp sound is it comparable to? Brit? Californian?

Very cool! It makes total business sense for them to make this now, now that pedals are in the thing, and rack is out.

It has been years since I had a PSA-1, but it was similar tones, but you could dial in more subtle, and in-between tones than the GT-2, because of the buzz, crunch, and punch controls. I think they controlled the pre-gain EQ and timbre of the gain. Think of the switches on the GT-2 as preset versions of these controls.

The ONLY negative I see on this, is that it would have been a great time to add a mid control. That was the biggest downfall to the original PSA-1.

Seriously. No. Tech21 and Seymour Duncan are tempting me to spend money and I'm doing my best to resist.

I'd think any demo of the original PSA would sound exactly the same.
