hello friends,

Other than the visual changes between neck through body and bolt-on (and a minor upper access difference), is there any difference between ESP M-II NTB vs bolt on?
I saw this old post that says bolt-on has "extra thin" neck while NTB has "thin U" necks... (which is the case for Jacksons), but I wonder if it is still true?

Thoughts?

One thing to consider is that (at least with the used market) it seems the bolt ons are far more affordable than the NTBs.

I haven't had an MII in hand but the KH2s are pretty similar right? Same basic gist? I've got a NT and a BO KH2 and it's pretty hard for me to tell the difference in neck feel between the two.. though I will say that the BO definitely seems to have that slight snap to it that NTs don't have.

FWIW I have some M-IIs with a Thin-U neck (M-II DX and Custom) and a LTD JH-600 which apparently was advertised as having the extra thin u.

They feel the same to me. Though the JH-600 is of course a Korean build so might not be the best comparison.

I have both. Honestly, you have to dig for differences. Up loud, I would say the bolt on variant sounds a little snappier, a little something in the high end, than the neckthrus.

I would say the neckthru gets the most playtime these days

Have an NT and had a bolt on KH2. If the KH2 was a bolt on m2 with custom inlays then yes it has a flatter neck. But the neckthrough isn’t thick by any means, just has a slightly rounder back if that makes sense. Sold the KH2 after a couple years. Kept the M forever now.
