Can we get a show of hands on who owns one of the LTDs or the ESPs? Ive got one as soon as it came out and i love it to death.

Id to hear other opinions as well like:

    Pros
    Cons
    Comparisons
    What changes you would make
    etc
    etc

Ill start by saying this is such a nicely crafted guitar. There is not a flaw on this thing at all. Its amazing smooth to play just like my 607. The bridge is AMAZING and so easy to set up. Pickups sounds pretty good too but i would still prefer maybe a passive alternative. I love the tuners, they might be "ESP" but they work just as well imo.

For cons there isnt much besides the fact that, it may just be me but it feels like the 6th 7th and 8th strings are floppy, especially comparing to the 2228. I wont even tune it to F because i feel it might get to floppy.
But while we are on the subject of downtuning it, i DID tune it once to F and the 8th string was utter MUD and it had no clarity at all. I was confused because my Ibanez sounded fine tuned to F but this thing sound like it was being tuned so low you couldnt hear the note. I need to further investigate that but yeah. I think the only thing i would change on this, even though the LTD and ESP models are different specs, it would have to be the pickup arrangement. The Middle pickup DOES sound pretty nice when in the neck pos but i still would rather have a neck pup.

But mainly my question to other 608 owners is that did you experience the same cons as i did once you completely setup up this thing? That meaning factory strings still on it as well. It just seems the B string is more floppier than the down tuned A on my 607. Maybe im just missing something idk

Does owning a Stef B8 count as well? :p

I got a couple of weeks ago and it plays marvelous.
It sure beats the hell of the 2228.
The neck plays like a dream and I had no trouble at all adapting to the extra string.
I did find the F# string a bit floppy though, but that was easily fixed by changing it to
    80 or 85 for downtuning to a low E.

The lack of a neck pickup didn't bother me either as the middle pickup provides an excellent warm tone for clean bass-like sounds, wonderfull for slapping really.

All in all, my dream guitar, I couldn't want anything else xD

Have you tried adjusting the setup with thicker gauge strings on the lowest 3? If you have a heavy picking hand you might need to make that adjustment as sometimes stock setups from the factory don't work for everyone. :) That might fix the problem you mention... might just be low tension combined with heavy picking. :agreed:

Yeah thats probably just my problem there. I mean the 2228 wasnt floppy what so ever but then again thats a totally different guitar : /

But i still wonder what the highest guage the 8th string can handle

Niels what strings do you use for those 80-85's? I assume a bass string?

Yeah, I use GHS strings, a 7 string GB7M set, and a single short scale bass string.

And I know what I've said Anthony :p
It just sounds wonderfull if you slap the fat one xD
I don't really use it though...

And the pictures will have to wait, sorry, the guitar is at the studio, and I won't be there untill sunday. I'll try to make some nice action shots ;)

I know you do xD hehe

Anywho, I couldn't ressist driving down to the studio to play some more.
But bad luck striked my beloved 8 string, damn friday the 13th.
It's nothing to serieus, but I have this constant buzz.
Both on my Roadking and ong my second guitarist's Rectifier, really annoying.

I'm thinking of changing the pups to M8's, what do you think?

I know this is an old thread, but i thought i will give it a try.

Has anyone installed Dunlop Strap Locks?
I tryed, but i couldnt get the screw all the way into the guitar, so as it is brand new, i just decided to go with those lame dimarzio ones. they screw on them fitted fine.

I want to install the dunlop strap locks, but i dont want to damage the guitar.

any thoughts? funny experienses or something?

Picked up a factory 2nd just over 2 months ago for $600 and am pretty happy. Still cannot find a good string gauge for it. Currently playing a set of Ernie Ball 8 string but find it pretty floppy. Once I find the perfect string gauge I think I will be happy with it.

honestly if you're gonna use an 8 (even 7 in some cases) I strongly suggest you should just get a custom set or get a standard 6 string set and buy an extra two. the gauges these companies include are waaaay too low and a few extra bucks for higher gauge strings will come a long way. :metal:

    edit: sorry for the necrobump

I've got one. I love it. I also have and sc600 too. I don't really like the reverse headstock, otherwise it's prett rad. Also, I just drilled out my tuner for the 80 gauge low E. I like it a bunch.
