Man makes the wait for mine that much harder.

Looking forward to pretending I'll learn material from different bands when in reality I'll just play all my Metallica favorites in B

I like that people are trying to solve why Metallica try different things. They've been world famous since they were in their 20s and can get literally anything they want from a guitar company. Playing the national anthem? Here's a custom guitar for a couple minutes of guitar playing.
If they try something off the wall, like a 27" baritone Snakebyte and hate it, the most Hetfield is doing is playing it for at most a couple of songs in like a two hour set when they play. Not exactly a game changer, but that's what happens when you can write a throwaway song, or album/s, and there are still going to be thousands of your fans that it becomes iconic/symbolic for regardless.
So no mystery, within this thread, there's talk about a guitar Kirk is said to have played that it sounds like wasn't even photographed.
If I have questions about Metallica related tastes, it's pretty much the Black Album on with a few exceptions. But the Snakebyte is badass and this one looks cool, though I doubt I'd ever go with a baritone.

I need to run out and get some schallers to try it with a leather strap, but with one I had laying around I didn't notice any dive. and honestly I don't even notice the longer scale they did a great job with these.

Ahhhhh mine still hasn't shipped. I guess I got $200 off so I can't be too upset.

Very tempted but the price is fairly high IMO. My EII wasn’t that much more. I don’t have any baritones and really want to try the Het set too though. Interested in what folks who already have one think.

Hmm, I don't like it. There are many 7-string or even 8-string guitars more affordable and better looking (and I suspect better sounding, also).
I'd just go with a seven string Jackson.

The Macassar Ebony boards look really light, almost like rosewood. I'm personally not a fan and it kind of ruins the guitar for me (for an otherwise amazing looking instrument).

Absolutely awesome guitar. Feels great. I didn't even notice it was longer scale. What strings you guys think I should use for E Standard? 9s or 10s? Probably 9s right?

macassar ebony usually its more brown than its black. More like brown with black strikes.

easier to find and cheaper than black ebony I guess?

but agree, this guitar should have black ebony. Light brown doesnt go with black/dark purple theme of the guitar. SAme reason why I hate rosewood on 95% of guitars

It’s got the tight grain, though, so a little fretboard dye and you’re in business!

I fully agree, but somehow dying fretboards is a massive stigma for a lot of people. If it was my choice I would rather them using richlite, eboncore, or whatever man-made material in black

I agree. I pick fretboard wood the way I pick clothes. I hate when the fretboard wood doesn’t match the body. Like, no way am I wearing purple black and brown.

Though, I will say I’m coming down off my high horse about rosewood. I’ve seen some really nice, streaky, rosewood FBs lately. In a guitar with the correct body color, a rosewood FB with some character looks KILLER!

Feels pretty good in E Standard with 9s. Like it a lot.
