I truly believe there’s minimal crossover between people who don’t share those beliefs and people who are comfortable being mistaken as someone that does.

Sure once I know the quote it will be shared. I love anime and having a cool art piece that is playable would be superb. I am a big fan of Akame Ga Kill, Bleach, Full Metal Alchemist and various classics. I've also thought of Robotech themed guitar in the build of the classic SDF-1.

I'm sorry, I just don't understand why you'd request they do that? out of all the things you can have inlayed on a guitar, why would you get Nazi imagery???? You're better than that. Have some respect for the 6 million dead jews of the holocaust and everyone else affected by the war.

ESP made the right decision, these should never have been pressed into a guitar in the first place.

All of the above coming from a huge slayer fan.

I'm actually quite impressed by the ESP custom shop, that they refuse to do this. A company that is capable of self-reflection is a rare breed.

Did you also maybe ask if they could also have the singer from Lost Prophets embossed on the body? I mean it would be incredible if they turned such a request down /s

This is actually pretty old news. I can remember as far back as 2004 people being angry on the ESP forum because they would not do nazi inlays or even the nazi flektarn camo pattern for people that weren't Jeff Hanneman (or some other big name money maker). Back in the 80s-90s they would make whatever you want. They were a smaller operation then. Now they have become one of the biggest guitar companies there is. They no longer need every possible sale. So unless you are a mega star like Metallica or Slayer, there are rules.

Weird that they'd say no to flektarn camo. It's just camouflage. The Bundeswehr still uses a variation on flektarn style patterns to this day.

The flek wasn't a no-go because of nazis like the inlays, it was just done by hand only for Jeff and they didn't want to do it for anyone else. Their other camo pattern is done in a much more efficient manner and is exactly the same on every guitar.

On the price, ESP definitely is not cheap for a full custom order, but I don't think you can buy a better quality guitar.

I'm not terribly surprised that they draw the line on building things that make them look bad, and symbols associated with Nazis sure will do that.

I'm sure they'd be happy to build something just with different symbols and such, and there must be plenty of other runes and whatever else out there that don't have some horrible connotation. It'll still be a fun guitar.

At least one of the explanations that I've read is that Slayer chose this type of imagery because they were looking for shock value; they saw it merely as fearsome looking props, like from a horror movie or something. I'm not saying that's a good idea (it's not!), just that it has been their explanation of it.

I’m still upset that dipshit Nazis claimed awesome pagan runes and other imagery, ruining it for the rest of us.

Yup. If people think the nazis did super fucked up experiments, they should read up on some of the stuff Unit 731 did. They were on a whole different level.

And it was kinda brushed under the rug so to speak so the Allies could use that research.

A couple of the lead scientists even ended up getting full pardons/working for top pharmaceutical companies after the war. A bunch of the scientists were publishing their data in peer reviewed journals during the war.
