I have to have one. The black one in the link looks better.
Anyone heard about there being a Gibson Lespaul 7?

Just a couple of Custom Shop ones. When I worked at Gibson's acoustic plant we made a 7 string J200 for Elijah Blue to match his custom Les Paul 7.(He's the guy that sings for 'Deadsy'. Greg Allman and Cher's son.)

I dont care what anybody says, that thing has to have the worst neck EVER on it.

I could see a GIBSON Lp custom, standard, classic, hell even studio in my collection at some point, but an Epiphone classic?

I love 7strings and I like Lp's, but this one seriously does nothing for me.
The Lp design is already a cow, the last thing it needed was an extra string.

I mean, look at the review score on that thing! Can you say POS?

forget the score, forget the cosmetics, forget everything except one thing; 24 3/4" scale length. BAD idea for that low B, 25.5" is the minimum I'd go with, especially if youg et into drop tunings.

I have 4 Ibanez 7 string guitars and they pretty much all sound like crap in my opinion. The best out of them all is the S series or Saber. It has a thicker tone. I'm thinking that if that Epiphone is going to have a much better tone than any of the Ibanez 7 Strings guitars. It will be great for studio use and for the project i'm doing right now which doesn't have many difficult parts to play. So for me the tone becomes more important than how it plays. Anyone heard one?

    Stock ibanez P/Us?

I agree they aren't the warmest sounding guitars but I think "like crap" might be going a little too far.

agreed, my 7620 kills most 7's I've played- it has a very distinctive, middy tone that when driven into a high gain amp is just thunderous.

Take this with a grain of salt though, because I don't particularly care for mahogany as a tonewood.

It wont have the tone on the low b w/ a nekc thats less than 25.5". The only way to do that is to not play the low string. THen it might have better tone.

No, I've tried all the dimarzio pickups. Right now my S7 is in the shop getting some fret wrk done so I've been using one of my Universe guitars. I have a Blaze 2 Custom in the bridge and I think it sounds like crap. HAhah!!! Sorry, it's just my opinion but next to a Les Paul or an SG the Universe sounds like paper stuck in a fan. It just too thin of a tone. The S7 is a world of difference because of the Mahogany body (Which I like) and shape. I'm gunna pick up one of these just to check it out. I'm getting it for $200 so what the fuck? Why not?

actually, I think that mahogany guitars sound "thinner" in the mix due to the weaker overall low end (it's more of a lower mid than true low), and muted highs- I swear by alder, myself, but basswood is a fairly well-balanced tonewood, clear in the lows while still fairly detailed in the highs...

Blazes are fairly "scooped" pickups, try maybe a Tone Zone in the UV, it's a great-sounding pickup in basswood.

We just must have different taste or something because all my Mahogany bodied Guitars have a much warmer thicker tone than my basswood bodied guitars. I've always prefered the tone of a Les Paul or an SG over most Ibanez guitars. The low mids is what I want to be most prominent. Thats where all the meat comes from.

I have a Tone Zone in my other UV. I just don't like the basswood.

One is an old Black UV with Green pickups. I've had that since Vai first came out with the 7. And the other is the mirror pick guard one. I can never keep model numbers srtaight. I would never get rid of the one with the green pickups. It's the one I use at home to practise cause it plays so nice. The mirror one I might consider trading or selling........ You don't have one of those Les Paul 7's do ya???

Hahaha!!! Ya, that's my favorite guitar to play. It sits on a stand next to my couch at all times. I wouldn't trade/Sell it for anything.

I am however trying to get rid of a red RG-7 string for cheap bucks if anyone is interested..............
