Hey all, just did a search and this didn't come up so I shouldn't be double posting this...
Just discovered this band called Eden Circus, they're amazing to say the least. I love Tool and there's been very few bands, that I've heard of, that can reproduce their signature sound and style and make it sound good and original at the same time. Looking forward to more from these guys :D

kinda doing them a disservice just comparing to Tool. I see similarities and influence, sure, but they're not really doing the same thing. most artists are trying to create something unique and their own. I think it comes from an honest place and is usually meant to be complimentary, but it's kind of a slap in the face to have someone tell you this thing you worked so hard on sounds just like that other guy's thing. :2c:

I thought they were closer to Circles than Tool. Its hard not to hear Tool influences in bands like this, but I don't think they sound that similar.

If you like Tool, check out the band Indukti. They're an instrumental prog metal band (aside from a couple tracks on their debut which feature the singer from Riverside), but they share many of Tool's songwriting sensibilities. The album "S.U.S.A.R." is really great. Specifically, listen to the songs "Freder" and "No. 11812".

There is also a Tool copycat band called "Soen". They suck though. Eden Circus sounds quite good to be honest, very Tool-influenced indeed.

...well, obiously "Tool" is one influence on this one song - I think "Opeth" is another (the middle part's harmonies), as well as"Porcupine Tree" (the mellotron in some parts as well as the sound design of the drums and guitars), maybe Filter (the voice), maybe Karnivool (the song structure itself leans towards some stuff from the "sound awake" album's longer songs...), maybe even "Oceansize" is an influence (the guitar melodies). Your Mileage May Vary.

I really like it. Good stuff.

I didn't think of Tool when I heard it though.

Great song. Funny: When I checked their FB-page I noticed they're from Hamburg and one of the guitarrists sold me pickups 2 months ago. ^^

Niilz posted this on my ERG music thread a few days ago and I can´t stop playing those you tube videos. I´m really hooked to this stuff now.

I had a feeling that there was a Tool thing going on but quiet honestly none of the songs is close enough to Tool to actually compare. Chevelle is a band that totally rips off the Tool sound or at least they did as far as I have listened to them. But here there are so many more elements of other bands I love that I can´t pick just one.

My immediate thought was ¨what do they have for breakfast in Germany¨that we get another great experimental band (think the Ocean Collective) that´s so good in a little under a decade... hahahahah.

They sound more like 32 Leaves to me (another Tool/APC band from a few years back).

I like bands rockin in the tooly style though.
