Agreed. The only feature that I think would make consider buying it is having a piezoelectric system on an 8, however can live without that easy enough. $4k+ for a feature that I would use like twice isn't worth it.

the horn is not really longer (for waht you are thinking)... meaning, the strap pin location is at the exact same spot as a regular JP model. Differnce is that the horn goes deeper into the neck pocket due to the neck trough construction, so it appears to be longer. But balance wise, its the same

The correct answer to every situation is to buy two Aristides

ESP/LTD had some 25.5 8 strings in the mid ‘00s. So I wouldn’t rule it out.

I'm hoping it's a standard 25.5in scale, just to tick off everyone who rages at an 8 string being less than 27in scale

I remember seeing people lose their minds when Schecter made their initial production 8's 26.5in scale.

I'm not really interested in 8 strings, but definitely curious how they'll design the Majesty around it. Not a fan of brands that just widen the body out and make the bodies of their guitars massive. It could actually work out to be reasonably comfortable with the Majesty's overall design.

It would be neat if they scaled the body up slightly but I suspect they'll just be sticking the same size wings on the wider neck-through section. Hopefully it doesn't look too tubby, like the PRS 8s I've seen around.

the JP Baritone was 27.5, I'd be okay with that. I wonder what the pickups will be

His baritone JPs were 27.5” so that’s a reasonable guess for scale length if he feels the need to go beyond 25.5”

This is actually what I'm expecting. The BFR Baritone was a great guitar.

for what JP plays I dont thik it would be any longer than 27.5... it would be either that or 26.5

also I got a feeling it might be a hardtail. JP use the tremolo, but he doesnt abouse it. Its more tastefull light playing of it nowdays. So it wouldnt surprise me this 8 string (if it happens) would be a hardtail version. 1- because he would be able to get away for not using the trem on those two songs on the album, and 2- because EBMM would find hard to design it or something like that

I dont play 8s, so dont care muhc about it. Im more excited about the music hes gonna do with it. Hopefully it would be asong with a nice use for it, and not a 7/6 string song with the occational "0" on the eight string. Like a song you can play on a 7 string 95% of it

I remember an older petrucci interview about an 8 string where he said something like " youre going to be a FAN of it" many suspected a knod at a fanned fret jp. and jordan from dream theater has a signature 8 string multiscale called the wizard and im sure johns had his hands on it tons. if its going to be a hard tail i would only accept it if it was a multiscale. so right now i think its either gonna have a tremolo and be straight fret , or be hardtail multiscale.
