    Hey guys

Just thought I'd share this easy-going jazz play-along - it's a medium swing jazz practice backing track made for improvising on the essential and classic minor 2-5-1 progression - in the key of A Minor.

If you are just starting out in jazz, learning to navigate a 2-5-1 progression is a great start.... and playing in a minor key may also be more natural to most, rather than playing in major.. so.... give it a shot!

    Chord progression:

    II: Bmin7b5 I E7 I Amin7 I Amin7 :II

On the track, you will hear extensions of these chords - as is common in jazz of course :)

    Scale suggestions:

    A minor scale - A B C D E F G (A)

    (Bmin7b5 chords and Amin7 chords)

    A harmonic minor scale - A B C D E F G# (A)

    (E7 chords)

    Basic arpeggios:

    Bmin7b5 arpeggio = B D F A

    E7 arpeggio = E G# B D

    Am7 arpeggio = A C E G

Here's a minor 2-5-1 guitar lick you can try out

And there's lots more free 2-5-1 jam tracks HERE

    Enjoy :hbang:

THANKS!! i've been brushing upon my jazz as of late and am having trouble navigating around jazz chords with nice creative leads. I took Jazz band in high school so i know some basics but one of the things i hated most about that class was that it was all performance based, with no emphasis on WHY things work. So thanks again, and i will most definitely be using this
