Just saw that Dean has these out:

    https://www.deanguitars.com/query?upc=818896025737

I'm particularly attracted to the Floyd one since it meets the usual mission requirements for me, 24 frets, Floyd, 25.5 inch scale and so on. Absolutely no experience with import Deans. Serial number says IW, so it ought to be the World Music Indonesia plant, which also makes the LTD Dluxe (1000 series) guitars these days.

Can anyone shed any light on experiences they might have had with Indonesian Deans? I think it looks cool, and it has the old Rusty Cooley body as far as I can see, but it's a black hole for me as far as knowledge or experience.

The burl looks burp, but the blondie looks hottie.

Remove the binding and block inlays and they would look way better!

These rusty cooleys always interested me tho

The chrome floyd looks cool, definitely interested.
But a little bit pricey for a mii guitar.

The lower horn looks so odd but the rest of the guitar looks great. I’ve owned one import Dean (MIK I believe) and it was full of imperfections. But that was 15 years ago so I have no idea what their QC is like now.

Seems like similar market approach / pricing that BC Rich is taking, albeit Indonesia made instead of Korea. Someone buy one and post results, for science.

The only thing putting me off at the mo is the EMGs, otherwise it would be worth picking one up just for the heck of it and flogging it off if I ended up not liking it.

Seems like it's based on the Rusty Cooley cutaway, since it goes way beyond the 24th fret. Nice that they're keeping that shape around after Cooley threw his latest tantrum, since the RC series were great and super playable guitars

nice looking guitars! Love the inlays. Usually dont like inline for 7 strings but these dont look bad.

I don't know why, but to me they look like the "Dankey Kang" version of Solars.

this looks and sounds really nice actually for a Dean.
Love how those 57/66 set look in it too.

I could see the natural quilt one looking pretty good with black hardware.

I still think Dean would benefit from some real rebranding.

    agreed.

Every dean Ive owned/played has also been trash.

Something weird about how their dimebag guitars feel.
when I was in college I bought a flying V from them (NOT Dimebag) and my then bands other guitarist owned the expolosion Razorback.

both mine and his guitar feel really light, cheap and hollow? I dont know. Weird weird feeling guitars. I quickly sold mine and he tried and failed for ages to sell his.

They have that mid life crisis biker dad gimmick thing going on which fell out of fashion in the late 90s. Thats where the rebranding needs to come in. Stale is an understatement.
Im not saying dropping the Dimebag stuff but ALL their guitars feel like they belong in that era too or earlier.
