Wow..... This is a whole other level of stupid on my part.
I bought a e350 preamp from reverb. It came from spain, it didnt even occur to me to check the voltage before purchasing it.
It just showed up a moment ago and it was only when i saw the wonky power cord and it hit me. Look at the back and yep, 230v im fucked.

Anything i can do or do i just need to eat the $50 duty fee and shipping fee and return it?
    God dammit

Edit: i dont think i can return it. Fuck.
Coolest and most expensive door stop ive ever owned.

Just get a step-up transformer. They're not terribly expensive or hard to find.

Depends. Take a look at the schematics.

Usually, it's not worth it as too much needs to be changed.

Just get a transformer. They come in handy.

Avoid the cheap Chinese transformers also as they may lead to an ugly fail at some point. I used a quality transformer in the past for my Mesa Triple Rectifier and never had a problem. Do not return it, some companies even have voltage switches on their gear for convenience.

If i get an external power converter box then i just plug the e530 into that, now can the converter then be plugged into a power bar or does it have to plug into a wall outlet?

And then its fine, i just use it like normal without worrying and it will work with all my other gear just fine?

Plug it into any source of ~100v to ~120v.

All it does is correct for voltage.

Sorry to derail, but I get very frustrated that Reverb defaults to including international sellers and doesn’t have a good way to select USA only, you have to set it again for every search.

I just bought the one on Amazon for my JP2C, but going the other direction. As for rating, P=IV, multiply 230 by whatever the fuse is and then to be safe, double it for headroom. In my case, the Twosie is 120V with a 4A fuse, giving 480W, so I doubled that and bought a 1000W transformer.

On the other hand, I think @narad had an Engl converted from 230V to American and it was very simple.

I have an old Bosch brand one that's maybe close to 20 years old. Works great, but who knows what they're making now. Most you see are the same one just rebranded.

I'd just go on Amazon and grab one with the best reviews over $100.

Ya, literally moving one jumper. But that's the special edition, which is like a computer basically, and they were already exploring some of the invader 2 wizard module stuff at that point.

Just get a transformer. I run my UK Matamp with one, and it allowed me to buy a cheap italian espresso machine when it popped up, like 70% discount over the cost of the same machine in Japan.

But doesn't that mean you can't have coffee and Matamp at the same time?

I had the opposite. Bought a Mesa Mark III Black Stripe combo off ebay , and it appeared to be 110v only. Had an electronics repairsman make me a toroid transformer.
You can use one externally, no problem . just plug it in the power socket , and the power chord of the preamp into the trans.
