It's like buying a car direct. You don't get a discount because it violates the dealer agreement, and manufacturers are rarely equipped to fulfill small orders to unique locations, nor the staffing to handle issues that arise. So it's off the table mostly.

The dealer/retailer tiered system is designed specifically so manufacturers can farm out the sales and service side of the business and to have a continuous flow of revenue via timed and allocated dealer orders.

Which is why it's troubling that BCR says they have inventory ready for purchase but dealers don't.
Well, some of the guitars are for dealers. My order is coming directly from BCR, despite being a dealer order, because it doesn’t make sense to ship a guitar from East coast to West coast and back. I can only imagine the logistical nightmare that warehouse is right now

Yeah, some manufacturers and dealers have drop shipping agreements.

On the plus side it reduces delivery time, cuts down on waste, and saves money, but on the downside you lose a tier of QA/QC.

I did express that concern, but apparently Bill is onsite, and these guitars are getting examined very closely. Red Blanket sells a lot of BCRs, and he said he receives very few guitars from BCR that need anything more than tuning. Plus, if I have any issues, I have no doubt that he, as my dealer, will make it right.

For sure, plus any reduction in actual handling by shippers is a bonus.

I guess my concerns aren't as much with what shows up, it's if it shows up.

Well, at this point, if nothing shows up, I’ll be very surprised. At the rate they’re currently going, it looks like it will be a slow ramp, so the if/when you get your guitar concerns will be a thing for a while. Would be nice to see them ramp faster though. At this pace, I don’t see how they’re bringing in enough money to keep the lights on

I thought some of you may like these pictures. Two of the members of a B.C. Rich Facebook group I'm on finally got their Ironbird guitars. They claim they got them today.

Up until recently I have never cared about bc rich in general or the ironbirds specifically but in the last couple of weeks I have found myself obsessed with this guitar and I must have one
A bit of FOMO? I can empathize.

Off topic, but what is that EVH thing he’s got there? Any idea? It looks like it could be a big ass speaker cab, but I doubt that’s it. But it looks super cool, because that’s not black paint - the wood had actual cutouts against something black.

Holy fucking shit dude that is epic!

Where is the unboxing pic story?

I hope you used a sword to open the box. Or a second ironbird.
A knife was involved. No swords unfortunately

Unboxing pics. Some interesting stuff: Volume knob wasn’t attached; Kahler was locked in fixed bridge mode; the guitar was almost in perfect tune, but Eb standard; the action is kinda up and down, as if they set intonation on the Kahler AFTER the action (correct on other bridges, not the best idea on a Kahler); and the headstock is actually in trans black so you can see the grain on the headstock veneer
