Maybe it's like how news outlets have pre-made obituaries for old celebrities, the band has them for their non-core members and one was prematurely posted.
He’s been on every album since 1999 so… isn’t he kind of a “core” member? It’s a bit strange they announced it and then redacted it. I bet it was allegations that were immediately proven false and/or the band is ACTUALLY waiting until proven guilty unlike majority of bands these days who would just toss them out. That’s the wave these days.

Strange situation. Allegedly his wife has some health issues so leaving the band doesn't seem like an unreasonable thing to do, take some time to be with her etc, plus he's probably made enough money to sit at home comfortably forever more and is sick of being on the road.

The way the band handled it is weird though, posting about it, deleting the posts, posting teasers for the new member etc.

Slipknot never recovered from their Stone Sour B sides era, so I'd guess Craig isn't worried about missing out on writing some magic tracks either. 😂

I think your referencing Clown with his wife having health issues. About a day or 2 ago he announced he wouldn't be at the upcoming shows because of it but he isn't leaving the band. Clown kind of IS the band at least from a visual/marketing standpoint. Craig "leaving" is weird but it could all be a total stunt and just another thing to drum up interest and further the brand that is Slipknot. I almost look at Slipknot like pro wrestling that intertwines scripted stuff with real life to blur the lines a little. Maybe Craig didn't leave and he's reintroducing himself with a new character? Maybe he really did leave because of touring life? I don't know.

TWIST: He's leaving now, they're replacing him with a new "character" with a new mask, and he'll return as that new character under the new mask when he can. This way when whatever is causing him to take a break rears its ugly head again, they can just have him swap in and out with replacements down the line with nobody the wiser.

*DISCLAIMER* - this is a theoretical joke. Theoretical, for now.

My theory is he's simply tired of the touring life and throws in the towel. Aren't all the members like 50 anyway? Of course there's all these old school bands still rocking well into their 70's but still... Hopefully he at least learned from the Chris Fehn-case and didn't ask for a raise, especially for contributing pretty much as much as Fehn did for the band.

These guys are getting old and have families . I’m hoping it was amicable , unlike whatever happened with Chris Fehn .

I used to be super into slipknot when I was younger , sucks to see all the OG members go . I know the new talent has been incredible but it’s odd when half the band are gone , even worse when they’re fired or start lawsuits .
