As a huge metal fan I know how this might sound but "Everywhere at the end of time" by "The Caretaker" absolutely broke me. It's not metal, it's sort of ambient/genreless.

I can't overstate how powerful this album was. Six and a half hours in total and an ending that was unbelievably moving. Quite literally changed my life and my view on music. Also, the darkest thing I've ever heard.

well...I made it through this....and.. That was a masterpiece. It's on another level. I've never heard a piece of music quite like it.

Stage 5 kind of gets terrifying if you put yourself in the mindset of someone who's going through dementia. Stage 3-4 is just sad with moments of happiness and confusion. Stage 6 ...just.. quietness. ... Vacant. ..until the end when it's over..

Damn... that was amazing. Thanks for posting that.

Pretty much the most evil album out there. I usually can't listen to more than a few tracks.

I mean.,..feel free to pop in and let any of us know if any suggestions have been down the right path. I'm up for suggesting more, but not without any idea of if any suggestions so far are even in the neighborhood of what you'd like.

Maybe not your stuff, maybe not your stuff just yet. If you wanna disturbing but quality albums, check COUGH: Ritual Abuse or Still They Pray which iI prefer. It is doom/sludge. From other area check AKHLYS: Dreaming I or new Melinoe, I prefer the first one . Or check LGLA from Poland and their Exercise in Futility. Different slower flavour of Black metal compared to Akhlys, both excelent and top stuff. From other genre, check NECROPHAGIST, which is technical and neoclassical death metal. All this stuff is breaking your limits, but you might discover the yourself as I did years ago as and still lover of IOWA as well. Still, the best album for me. Tho, the one they almost killed themselved by drinking and drugs.

A bonus, not a guitar music that much, more keys and industrial. Dark and great stuff nonetheless and all this stuff I have recommended just hitting my brain/heart the same way.

Second. That END record is such a vibe.

I'd also throw out pretty much anything by The Black Dahlia Murder but especially Unhallowed, Nocturnal, and Ritual.
The new album from The Faceless, In Becoming a Ghost (fuck you guys it was a good record )
Both Knocked Loose records I think would also scratch that itch.
Humanity's Last Breath is about as dark as it gets, and their self-titled album goes stupid hard.
