Continuing on my previous post about capacitor size...I got around to installing the new pots and pickups. This is for a RG7421. Only exception is I am using a 3-way switch (Alpha). So as the title goes, after doing all the wiring once plugged in it just hums constant. I followed the Ibanez wiring for RG7620 and used the K7 diagram for the switch part. I just swapped PAF-7 into this one. Switching works so now I need to find where I went wrong on the wiring. Any thoughts on where to start? I can start over, but would rather not.

Check all of the wiring to make sure everything is grounded properly.

But then again, cables break and cause a grounding issue. Could be the cable between your guitar and amp, it could be any of the cables between your pedals. Check them all.

Besides checking all soldering joints, take a look at you output jack. Those get loose sometimes.

Thanks. The only thing I left original was the output jack. I assume there is a grounding issue. I probably didn't get the pickkups on just right. I am pretty sure I used too much solder so I'll go check that area first.

Just came to say I like the buccees avatar
I do like me some bucees!

Anyway, I got the hum out. I had to resolder the neck "hot" wire and run a ground between the pots. I already had one from tone lug to vol lug but guess I messed something up. I realized that when I touched the knobs the hum went away.

Also, wierd but, when I got the guitar close to the solder iron station, the hum intensified. Once I turned the station off, all was good.
