Can't decide on a rig, so tell me what to get.

I change my mind far too much and I am far too indecisive to make any firm decisions on things, so I basically just want the people that know more than me to tell me what kind of rig/setup to get.

I'm looking for a real "analog" rig (I will be using DI's and VST's for recorded tones so don't need to go that route), and I prefer no modeling (nothing against it, just prefer an analog setup and simple amp-cab config). I don't play very often, but when I do it's mostly at home so bedroom and quiet/apartment level playing are important (though in the rare chance I find a drummer to jam with or the even rarer chance I found a band to gig with down the road I'd like something that could hang in that situation also). Stylistically, I play metal (not one specific type or genre) but like flexibility for the other 2% of the time I want to play crunchy midgain or clean stuff (don't we all). Something that doesn't take up a ton of room (limited on available space) and is fairly easily portable is important too - 4x12's out of the question, stuff easy to move like cabs with casters = yay, you get the idea. I won't be using a ton of pedals - at most a tuner, overdrive or boost, gate, delay. Basically just looking for guidance to an amp and a cab, hopefully I'm effectively conveying what I am looking for.

Totally forgot budget - sorry! I don't mind spending a bit to get quality or the best option, but I wouldn't really want to go over $1000 for the head and not really over $600-700 or so for the cab (I can stretch if needed).

BluGuitar Amp 1 Mercury Edition. Doesn't get any more portable than that. The Classic and Modern channels could be set to different high gain settings which would still leave you two channels for the other stuff plus a boost. The matching ported Fatcab 1x12 might be a good companion for it too.

Tonally the overdrive is Marshall spanning JTM45 to JCM800 and modded Marshall gain. Clean can be set Fenderish or more into Vox/Marshall type brighter, grittier sound.

The amp is all analog except a digital reverb and uses a miniature tube in the poweramp to give it that tube amp response. I love mine, it's brilliantly simple and incredibly good sounding.

Used Mini Recto or PRS MT15. The latter pretty much buries any other small metal amp, and yet has a great clean channel, unlike a 6505.

Used 5150 III 50w (1.0 versions are inexpensive and plentiful) and a EVH 2x12 (has casters) or a 1x12.

How heavy can it get? For example, what type of metal? Thrash? Hair metal? Etc

One of the PRS amps or a Mesa Mark, if you can swing those on your budget

Mesa recto 2x12. Those casters are god like!!! My goodness! And if still too heavy (will prob be fine though) you could throw some light weight neodymium speakers in there like eminence lil texas/tonkerlites, jenson tornado stealths or celestion g12 century vintage or whatever and then just sell the v30s easily that came with the mesa

It has a ton of gain on tap plus an adjustable boost on top of that and a very powerful EQ where small changes have a big effect so it gets as heavy as you need. There's mini knobs on the side that change the tone of each channel, the Classic gain channel goes from 70s Marshall Superlead to JCM800 to modern modded Marshall while the Modern channel goes from smooth lead sounds to angry high gain that reminds me of ENGL.

The manual is worth a read to understand how it operates. The shared EQ is no problem because each channel is balanced so well.

Amptweaker Tight Metal Pro, Seymour Duncan Powerstage, and whatever cab you can find locally.

It's not a traditional amp-cab setup, but it's small, super light, analog, good for bedroom levels or a full gig, and most importantly it'll sound great.

If the Tight Metal isn't your thing there are dozens of preamps to choose from. It does mid gain decently to my ears, but with your budget you'd have room for another preamp or two that can do clean or crunch tones, or go all out and get the Ceres.

I was thinking something along those lines as well but:
AMT SS-30/AMT-11b/ISP Theta (one of these as they all have a "clean" channel) into an AMT Tube Cake....
