Can you recommend headphones for a drummer?

Our drummer is starting to play with a click but he needs headphones that isolate a little better, so he doesn't have to turn up the click full blast to hear over his acoustic set.

Can anyone recommend some good over the ear headphones for a drummer?

Extra: How would you guys pan a click and backing tracks? Both panned center or 1 in each ear?

Second question first: it depends on how "click track like" the backing tracks are. If they're good enough to substitute as a click track, then it doesn't matter, go for a full stereo spread -- as someone who had to listen to practice tracks mixed mono in one ear and "lead vocal" style tracks in the other -- without crossfeed -- it's painful to listen to.

But if they're not, then just like you said -- click in one, backs in the other, but put a little crossfeed in so it's not painful to listen to.

1st question: Beyerdynamic DT770, hands down. Isolates better than any other over-the-ear. It's a little bass heavy, but as long as the bass drums are tight and dry (no reverb), that's actually better.
