If you could build your very own custom bass what would it look like? What would it sound like? Describe the body styling. Style of pickups, headstock, fretboard etc. Ill do mine when i get home from work. I gotta think about my ideas. But I just figured this would spark some meaty discussion so i figured Id post it now.

I'd do a six string multiscale (34"-37"?), with custom quad coil pickup and an Audere preamp. Padauk body, Macassar ebony neck and fretboard, Hipshot hardware... ;)

Seriously though, the Audere preamps are phenomenal, I can't recommend them highly enough.

    Very nice designs Darren.
Have you seen the German company Basslab? They could definitely make that shape for you.

My custom would be a double neck reg six on the top and a piccolo six on the bottom. Neck thru W a spalted maple top and a natural gloss finish.
