I'm looking for some black metal with decent, interesting, but still raw production. Neither modern & polished nor ultra-potato. The first album that comes to mind is Negura Bunget's Om. Need more recommendations for that late 90s through mid-2000s aesthetic.

    Preferably not melodic or symphonic

Antaeus - "De Principii Evangelikum" and "Blood Libels"
Anything by Krieg from The Black House onward and all of Averse Sefira's albums also spring to mind.

Stone cold Album of the Year 2019 for me right here:

Iceland is a tiny place, but the good black metal bands pr. capita ratio is insane:

    Also, Vanum fucking rips:

A few that came to mind, but the possibilities are endless, honestly:

Really a shame this band broke up:

One of the best albums of all time:

One of my favorites from 2019:

Also 2019, not necessarily pure black metal, but pretty blackened death metal if you ask me. BM is this artist's first genre anyway:

All of Leviathan's music falls into this category, but I really love the production on the EP The Blind Wound. I don't know why people don't talk about this one as much, it's some of his best material. Track 2 especially.

+1 for Sinmara, Svartidaudi, and Mis├żyrming. I prefer Sinmara's first album as it's more aggressive:

Plebeian Granstand has a particularly dirty sound without things going the way of potato:

This is the most underrated album of all black metal in the 2010's:

Some people say they can't vibe with the production. I think it's pristine and energetic, go figure.

I should probably also push my black metal ep from last year too. I used my tc eyemaster for chainsaw guitar tones.

Variation from weird avant-garde to atmospheric in this thread pleases me...

This might hit the late 90's sound bracket really nicely.
