Oh fuck, Burning Bridges is the best AE album anyways, so I'm buying the fuck out those tickets.

I love all three Liiva-era albums, but Burning Bridges is probably your best bet. I like Stigmata, but it seems to be the least popular of the three.

Just prepare for nothing that sounds like the Angela albums. Songwriting and production is much more raw and brutal. Liiva's vocals are extremely unpolished compared to Angela's.

Part of what I love about those albums. And they all gave me a sense that the world was going to end at any minute.

I'm actually glad they did Black Earth because I like to think of pre and post Angela as different bands, now I can haha. They are both great for different reasons.

Pretty much. Even with Burning Bridges, where they polished the production and Liiva's vocals started to sound more like traditional growls, it's still much different than anything released after that.

I'm really not sure what happened when Angela joined. The production became pristine, the guitar and drum sounds became polished, they tuned their guitars up a semi-tone, and the music became more and more metalcore-like.

I'm almost positive that when the world's going to end, the first thing you'll hear is the intro to Bury Me an Angel.

would definitely go see this show. Saw this lineup with Nevermore in like 99, there were like 20 people there but it was still a great show. still listen to these albums a lot, especially Burning Bridges.

I really liked the liiva version of arch enemy. Angela wasn’t bad, but this newer stuff is just unlistenable for me.

If the songwriting stayed in the same vein, it would have been cool. But it just became more like generic metalcore.

I always thought Black Earth was a much more fitting follow up to Heartwork than Swan Song was. Carcass is among my all time favorite bands, but AE just never clicked for me like they did. It's always bothered me that it seems like AE write great death metal songs, but they constantly drop in these rock parts for the solos. Pulls you right out of the mood.
