I’m thinking of replacing the 2 Sheffield speakers in my 6505.

I’m leaning towards V30’s, what are other users experiences?

Well, lots of people like either the Mesa or Marshall v30's,
but I'm not sure how they'll sound in a combo...

If it were me, I'd be looking into NEO magnet options to lighten the load.

    What kinda music and tunings?

V30s are the standard for a reason.

I really like the eminence Private Jack and Governor combo. They compliment each other really well. So do the swamp thang and texas heats.

I own a randall rs125xl and swapped out the 30s for a PJ and Gov. It is brutal. I also have a randall T2C that has a Gov in it and love that. The v-30s are fine, I just got tired of them because that is all anyone uses.

While V30s are the gold standard, Greenbacks apparently get along with 5150s as well. Since the 5150 was designed around Greenbacks.

Greenbacks for rock, v30 for metal, and g12k100 x classic lead or x v30 for high volume extreme metal.

Pretty much anything except the piss soaked sheffield stock speakers.

If you want to tame a wee bit of the fizz but still like something close to a V30 eq curve, Eminence Legends V12. i find them clearer sounding than V30s.

V30s are a classic option for a reason, but my favorite speakers I've heard with a 6505 are the custom Eminence Legends that came in Vader cabs.

They were designed to be flat and not color the tone too much. I'd try to find something close to that if possible.

Mesa V30’s are great with 6505’s as well as the celestion 75w creambacks. They sound great mixed together as well.

V30 + K100 is a great combo, though I'd probably go for a CV75 instead of a V30 at this point. Not much a fan of the current production V30s outside of Mesa's custom made ones.

I went with V30's for the reasons above. But I could never gel with the combo. I run Weber Gray Wolf speakers with my 6505+ and love it. Went from loose dad-rock to tight modern metal. Good luck!

Suggestive fo sho. I gotta lean towards EV12ML. Monster in a mix there. Getting tired of the tried and true V30. They do bring the brootz tho...

After thinking about it, I realize that wasn't quite an accurate description of the V30 with the Peavey. When I was running the V30's with my 6505+ there was a grind character. Like the amp was melting. It sounds great. I think that grind is what others who don't like the V30's say to them is icepick. But, when I paired it with the 100w Gray Wolf's, then, it was so tight, so... damn... tight. Changing the speakers changed the character of distortion beyond what I thought it would.

V30/C90 --- nice bite, crunchy lead tones are nice, good cleaner tones

65/k85 --- very tight high gain rhythm and massive low end thump
