    Hey guys!

My bass player is going through and upgrading his rig to better suit the kind of tone we are going for.

We're going for a pretty distorted tone, similar to Adam Nolly Getgood, Jacob Umansky, and various other prog bands. We tune as low as A so clarity in the low end is important.

He just got a Dingwall Combustion 5 and added a Darkglass Tone Capsule. We plan on using the new Neural DSP Parallax plugin for his tone running into a QSC PLD 4.2 Poweramp.

The last piece the puzzle we need is the cabinet. We've narrowed it down to a few options but would be open to hear other opinions.

1st option is a Gallien-Krueger Neo412. We found one for a good deal so we are considering it.

2nd option is a Mesa Powerhouse of some sort. We're not entirely sure what to the best speaker combo of these are.

3rd option ??? Whatever you guys would like to suggest for our style of tone.

    Thanks for your help!

Can't beat a good old 4x10 and especially an old 8x10.

Ampeg 810. Used ones go cheap. Make sure all the speakers are working.

If budget allows, get the fender neo bassman instead. Lighter than a 412 cab, handles in proper places and sounds really good.

Ehh, not typically true. However, most tweeter implementations in bass cabs don't sound great with distortion. Other than that, try a couple tweeterless cabs at GC and see what you like; it's likely that Craigslist will have a bunch of big bass cabs for cheap cause no one can ship them.

I'm using an old Peavey 1810 for distorted bass, I think it sounds ballsy AF. 2 10" speakers and an 18".
