I have been looking for a BC Rich Eagle to mod and refinish for awhile.

Reccently one popped up on craigslist but its allready been refinished (and as you will see from the paintjob its a prime candidate to be refinished again into something much less stupid...) so no "made in" or serial # to help ID its origins.

Its Neck Thru, with dot inlays, selector switch and 3 knobs. The head stock has the rarer Logo with the BC in small letters and RICH in large letters down the middle of the headstock. I was emailed some other pictures of the back but I cant find them at the moment (I will add them when I track them down), it was green though and seemed to maybe be the original colour?. These are from the add will have to do for now.

Any Help in ID the model, country it was made in and rough value would be appreciated.

I was thinking NJ series (but it doesnt say nj series below the logo..)Japan? Early/mid 80's (I could be way off)

I'm guessing a late 70s? Because of the big R, the dots and the bridge but... there are a lot of things that don't make sense, like the other letters in the headstock or the lack of the "tons of switches" that BC Rich Eagles used to have...

I'm pretty certain that logo config is from the NJ series when they were made in Japan. I believe that was between 1983 and 1986, after which production was moved to Korea, and the script logos became the import standard.

Yep that is the japan only NJ series logo. When NJ actually stood for Nagoya Japan. Very nice guitars.

It looks close but still seems to have the "nj series" below the bc rich logo so im not sure.

Any idea's on what I should offer? He is asking $600 obo...honestly I didnt really want to go over $300 but if its worth it I might consider offering a bit more. (Canadian $$ just to be clear).

Thanks again everybody.

Yup, NT NJ series. As for value? Almost worthless with that disaster of a refin, to be very frank with you. The bridge is not original and...did they actually paint AROUND the old bridge?? As an old BCR guy, things like this make me nauseous to see. :(

Well if I buy it I would be refinishing and modding it so the paint job would be erased from this world :agreed:.

I think im going to make low offer and see what he says
