Sorry guys, this should be a quick thread, looking for the "barrel style" tuner knobs that come on some Keith Merrow schecters and look like the headless guitar turning keys? Hope that makes sense, I think they look rad and wondering if anyone has input on actual use of them, and knows what theyre called?

All the specs say "Hipshot Grip-lock tuners" but thats what all their tuners are called and dont seem to have this on their website.

You can order different "buttons" from Hipshot.

No i know that, but theyre not on their website in the drop down options for tuner buttons :(

EDIT: Omfg yes it is. I went through this like 4 times earlier and never once saw "Industrial" the hell man, I'm a millennial we're supposed to be good at this shit...

If you have really high tension i wouldn’t recommend these. The “wings” of a regular button really help give you the leverage you need depending on your string gauge and tuning just a heads up.

I strongly disagree. I have the hipshot industrial buttons on some 7 and 8 strings and they work just fine for higher tension. They're very aggressively knurled/crosshatched and I've never had any problems with them.
And now for some tuner porn:

FYI schaller also has barrel tuners like these, but I haven't personally used them, if only because hipshot is usually easier to source.

    Just pulling my personal experience.
28.625” baritone, drop F, .090 for the top string, and I need to twist pretty damn hard to tune that bitch up. Would suck to have those buttons on imo, unless you play with less tension.

The 8 string has a 28"-26.5" scale with a .77 in F# and my string tension averages at least 18-20lbs across all strings. For the F# it's around 20 lbs of tension. I guess if you want >20 lbs of tension, then yeah, they may be harder to move, but so are regular buttons above that tension.

Random related thing: the Hipshot barrel / industrial tuners fit Gotoh locking tuners 100%; thread depth, shaft size and angle, etc. I couldn't find any specs regarding that before buying so in case you had some Gotohs and just wanted the look, you don't need to replace the entire tuning machine.

Also they grip very nicely and I don't notice any real torque issues compared to conventional tuning keys. They allow for more clearance for your hand, too, if you've got gorilla mits like myself.

@Crash Dandicoot I assume those would be a direct fit for the Gotoh Delta locking tuners also? I've got a Hellraiser that would look pretty sick with the barrel knobs imo.

@High Plains Drifter Couldn't say, you'd need to take a peek at the spec sheet for those. The tuners I'm running on that ESP are the Gotoh SG-381 MG-T, iirc.

Thanks dude. I'll take a look at the specs between the two.

Thanks for posting that pic. I'm thinking of popping the Industrial knobs on my Aristides since I'm not exactly wild about the buttons they use from the pics I've seen. Just waiting to see them in person. Plus, I always loved the way the old LSR tuners looked.
