Cardinal doesn't like my dad joke.
In all seriousness though, I'm happy to have ANY 8 string fully floating trem!
Indeed, as am i. I have been messing with the builder and grilling balaguer with questions. Might be having one of these and a B.C. in my future. Glad to see some realistic options now
Yeah, the drag is that this happens RIGHT when the coronavirus puts us all out of work. If I had any idea what the rest of my year would look like financially I'd order one right now.
I feel bad as well. I've been loudly clambering for Floyd 8s, but at this point I have to fancy custom 8s with Floyd's and started downsizing everything else since I don't know why I'd play something other than those too.
Do we know if Joe will be making any production 8s with trems? That would be way easier for us to swing, price wise.
Wow I managed to mistype "two" twice, using a different homophone each time.
That’s good! It means you’re not a homophobe.
Ill be here all week (with the dad jokes)
thanks again @JoeGuitar717
Do the 8s have a 16" fretboard radius? The Floyd 8 nut is around 18" IIRC, which probably is close enough. Just wanting to make sure the board radius isn't something like 10" at the nut.
Their custom maker is pretty good too! Maybe the nicest i tried yet
See, thats all i meant: not like I’m buying one or all of these brands and customs, i just wanted to window shop while my Oni is made, to pass the time .,..
This company looks like its solid, mid level but not bad
Our 8 string option is rather new, but we do have a signature series 8-string Tartarus coming out very soon for Devin of The Acacia Strain (doesn't have a Floyd though). I'd be open to a limited run for SS.org but I'm not sure 8-strings with Floyds are the most popular thing, or maybe I'm wrong? haha.
. No problem! All of our guitars have 16" radius, even down by the nut.
Damn that's gonna be hot
Me, @trem licking and @cardinal would be the top three that come to mind for a run. But we may be the only 3, lol. We need more people trapped in the ‘80s enough to love Floyd’s but living in the present enough to love 8 strings.
A neckthru Tartarus 8 string runs w floyd floyd be me onboard (ive never got in on a run, not sure what it entails)
Halo guitars online builder is way better because its the same, but offers loads more options. The Balaguer one seems modelled after it. (the Halo one has been up like this years)
my plan post Coronavirus (if we arent all completely in the shit) is to finish my XIphos and order a Tartarus neck through fan fret
the builders were made by the same guys...
Little OT, but I remember Halo having a shit reputation for building crap. Has their QC significantly improved?
feck knows. I just play with their builder haha
How is Halo? I remember like a decade ago they made the first 10 string, and it was indeed a horror, but I really admired the balls in showing it off.
Is the quality of their luthiers reflection/justified in the prices? That sounds awkward, but basically do you get what you pay for, or is their quality not very good?
That’s the tough part, for me, is as much as you spec a guitar out, you never know until its in your lap/hands....
Edit - just saw the post^ lol, still curious about answers though
