Would EMG's pickup selector, volume and tone pots and a 9v fit in an RGA 8 control cavity? Kinda thinking I'd like to go that route vs

Once that's sorted out, my next decision is what pickups. Kinda thinking 808x's but I'm curious about 81-8's and any of the xx-8's. I only have experience with the 707TWX-R (which I liked), so I'd love to hear anyone's thoughts on EMG's other 8 string pickups.

Brain fart, I meant to say I'd rather have the pots/switch/battery in the control cavity vs sourcing a 9v battery box to replace the current AA box.

If it's just slightly too small for a 9v battery, you may check out the original 24v mod, as the batteries are smaller than a 9v by a sizeable amount.

As for whether they will fit in your case, I can't say for certain.

After 25 years I tried EMGs for the first time. So much better than alnico passives. Gibson LP Studio Gothic came with 81/85. The 85 is still a bit muddy. It has soldered wiring/pots.
I just ordered 81X/60X and an extra solderless kit. Putting the new ones in the new (23 year old) guitar and moving the 81/85 to an LTD Viper baritone.

Anyone retrofit EMG actives into a Prestige RG that came with passives?

Anyone tried the H1 in the bridge? I'm debating between a DiMarzio Super 3 or EMG H1 to throw into the bridge position of my DGT SE.
BTW: update on the Rev bridge... Tuned the guitar from drop B to standard and uh... Yeah, holy fuck it's got a lot of mids. If you hate cocked wah sounds, this has it in spades. One of the things I noticed with higher-wound A2 pickups.

I have the H1A in the bridge. I liked the H1 alright, but the H1A is better. The H1A is a bit more rounded while the H1 is a bit lacking in the lows and low mids I think with a bit too much high end.

+1 on the 24v mod. It's going to make a huge positive difference too over the tone of that 8 string as well as free up more space.

It should be standard for everyone repping emgs now tbh

You guys sure are hyping me with the 24V mod, but paying over 50€ to get one here seems outrageous for just a battery holder.

You can make one for like $10 of parts or also try the link method using a couple of those 9v battery clips like insid ea Boss pedal. All the 25v mod is is Ebay parts you can get in bulk. They say it some special sauce part but in reality you can find them cheap but have to build it yourself.
- It looks like it's only $8 now plus $5 shipping ($10 to Spain) Seems like a good deal now over teh $30-$40 or whatver it was.
- I still haven't tried it because I learned ahile ago my Old Bartolini Implant preamp for piezos won't handle over 9v like the new one's do.

I think the brighter sound and leaner bass would have actually helped for this guitar lol. But I ended up with something else because I wanted a certain aesthetic.

Figure I could ask you guys:

Have a guitar with Fishman Open Core Classics. I'm close to just giving up on the bridge.

If I put in just an EMG81, is that going to mesh reasonably well with the Fishman neck or is that going to end up so weird that I should just get an EMG60 while I'm at it? Honestly I hardly ever use the neck pickup unless I'm pretending to be Slash.

The fakes do not have the wiring to handle 24v. They claim it will lead to overheating, I believe. People can risk it, but I'll pass.

he's only chargin like $12 there's no reason to even think about making your own any more really. Yeah, there's identical parts that are for 1.5v and 12v etc. You can get bulk lots of the 12v type he uses for these for less if making a bunch of them I guess might save money, but I think If I ever try one out I'd just buy his now because it's totally in the price range now. No reason to think of an alternative.
