Any news on elixirs anti-rust?

Haven't seen anything on their site for a while, being hopelessly optimistic.

I've had the current set on my guitar for a while and the alternatives are eh... Wondering if they got their anti-rust strings back yet or if its even on the horizon.

Are you saying that Elixir strings currently aren't available in anti-rust? Do you mean in your area or at all? As far as I'm aware, Elixir strings only make coated strings, which are therefor anti-rust. I'd lose my shit if I knew I couldn't get coated strings at my local.

Original plain steel strings available soon

They haven't been producing anti-rust strings for quite some time, unless your stores have been stocked / backlogged with antirust packages you'll notice all the new ones coming in no longer have the little anti-rust decal on the package and as you can guess the plain strings are not anti-rust.

This is my issue, since my sweat seems to corrode and rust up those plain strings in a day or two making a only low strings coated pack obsolete.

Holy shit, that's horrible. I'd actually prefer they use uncoated wound strings and coated plain steel strings, due to that awful corrosion on the plain steels that make leads just feel like shit. If I'd have known, I'd have bought a couple of boxes of the old coated sets before they went back to uncoated plain steels. This sucks, tremendously.

I'd rather the plain strings be anti-rust and the low strings not coated too as the low strings tend to take much longer to rust up for some reason.

Its really a bitch for me as I want to swap strings but there's no sense in it atm. I'm pretty much gonna have to buy a full pack of coated strings from another brand and replace the low strings with elixirs since I can't stand much anything else.

Is a hassle for expensive coated strings...

Wow, I had no idea about this. The coated plain strings were pretty much the only reason I used Elixirs when I did.

So I went to the three closest national chain music stores today (2 Guitar Centers and a Sam Ash). I actually managed to find one single pack of 9-42s with the anti-rust strings at the Atlanta GC and none at either of the other two places, although the Sam Ash did have some I think 11s with the anti-rust label. I'm gonna try to check some smaller music stores this week and see if they have any old stock. Can't believe I was able to actually find a pack, and at the music store that sees the most traffic in probably the whole state.

Yeah most stores don't even carry heavier strings so I might have to switch up to a higher tuning than C# maybe even standard and try to find me some packs.

Or just switch to daddario coated again at a higher tuning since those work fairly well.

Do they really? The guy at Sam Ash was really trying to push some of the EXPs on me but I passed since I had terrible experiences with the coated EBs. How do the plain strings on the coated D'Addarios feel?

The coated daddario strings pretty much feel / sound like uncoated daddario strings.

They aren't AS good at preventing rust on the high strings as elixirs are, but its still wayyyy better than regular ole plain strings. Its really the only acceptable alternative to me from elixirs as I can't imagine going back to anything else I've tried (which is like everything)

I sent Elixir a lengthy email regarding lack of communication between them and the distributors. If it is indeed something the Australian (in my case) distributors know about, and are chosing to just not tell their customers, then Elixir should be addressing this and including some kind of notice or sticker on their boxes or even individual sets of strings so people know what they're buying, effectively half a set of strings for full price. Which, in this country is around $22 per SET! Sitting back and pretending shit's sill the same is an asshole move.

true, I just bought a couple of packs recently. I checked them today and none of them are anti rust...
I wouldn't have bought them if I had known that they aren't fully coated anymore.

The packs with the regular plain steel strings just have the "with anti-rust plain steels" marking removed, but it's still a pretty hugely unnoticeable thing. They should at least start charging less for the strings if they aren't even going to be coating all of them. None of the guys at the music stores I went to had any idea about the change. Hell one of my friends didn't know either, he just thought he had gotten a bad set or something because his plain strings were getting corroded.
