Gorguts could be worth a look too, although they aren't quite as technical in places.

    Both god-like. ;)

I'm a big fan. If you like this, you'll probably like Revocation.

I haven't decided if I like these guys or not. Sometimes it seems like they add widdly stuff just to add it.

    Odious Mortem
    Severed Savior
    Obscura
    The Faceless
    Gorod
    Spawn Of Possession
    Decapitated
    Decrepit Birth
Origin (not really like Necrophagist, but still a good band.)
    Psycroptic
    Visceral Bleeding (very like SOP)
Death (Suicmez really took influence from this band and Necrophagist covered Crystal Mountain.)

I like Protest The Hero, they're like Symphony X mixed with weird singing. an acquired taste, but for anyone looking for something a bit different, check out their most recent album Fortress. I think it's fucking cool, and I am very, very picky.

I would say the faceless sounds similar to them
    Nile too, only less melodic.

maybe Veil of Maya? After the Burial?

I don't see the correlation between Nile and Necrophagist, I think they are completely different

I see even less a correlation between The Faceless and Necrophagist, yet everyone some people always say they sound similar.

Yeah, I must say most of the light -core elements of Akeldama are few and far between on Planetary Duality [of which I'm listening to the two part title track currently.] It's kind of hard to say bands that sound like them because I personally don't see many other marriages of neo-classical esque shredding and death metal riffage.

However I would side with those who recommend The Faceless bearing in mind Planetary Duality. As well as some of the others mentioned like Obscura, Gorod, Decrepit Birth and Decapitated. I think out of all of them your best bet is either Obscura or Decrepit Birth. They both have a very heavy sound while still carrying beautiful leads and solos. What's insane is I believe that Decrepit Birth tunes to standard and still has that really crushing/brutal tone. Observe:

    Decapitated
    Psycroptic
The Faceless (make sure you get there new album not the old one)

Yeah, I completely agree. I absolutely love Protest the Hero. They sound absolutely nothing even remotely close to Necrophagist, so I'm not sure why that dude brought them up, but anyhow, fantastic band!

They tune to D standard. I've actually been learning The Living Doorway. Fun to play and sounds awesome too. :hbang: They're in the studio now and it's supposed to been even more crushing.
