I am in the market for buying a 7-string, and my complaint is that they all look so... refined. All I can find are superstrat shapes and, while I appreciate they are easiest to play, I really enjoy extreme guitar shapes (V, explorer, warrior is my all-time fav). I was wondering if you guys could suggest some really angry-looking 7-strings?

I don't own one, but you should check out Solar model E and model V. Or else look for a used guitar. Ibanez, Jackson, and BC Rich have made more extreme shapes in the past.

Maybe you can find a used Ibanez Xiphos, sounds like you'd like that one :yesway:
Or maybe the old Nergal ESP 7 string V.

Thanks. I know about the Xiphos but I didn’t realise they came in 7 string!

Jackson also has a seven string in the Pro range that might fit your budget. The Dave Davidson Warrior.

I always thought the RG horns looked pretty evil.

Xiphos 7 are harder to find I think, but they exist. Necrophagist had a custom one.

Ran makes some angry looking 7s

Anyway, Balaguer has a new Xiphos-like shape that is pretty metal looking.

ESP/LTD has done 7s in the F shape and their modern take on the Explorer and V. The RG is a metal classic. BC Rich Shredzilla isn't bad looking.

Honestly if I were buying new I'd definitely try a Solar. The price is right on those.

Like others said, I'd go for a Solar. I finally got to try one last weekend (an E1.7FBB) and I was absolutely floored by the quality for the price. It was also incredibly comfortable. Now if only I could get that 25.5" scale on an S or A model 7 string.

Ran for sure. I love mine.

I thought the Ormsby Metal X guitars look pretty slick too, but I've never played one.

I was sorta hoping for BC Rich to jump on the sevenstring-train with their own shapes but noooo..all we get (for now?) is a superstrat.

Other than that, Ormsby perhaps? Their headstock makes it a little more evil I guess..

I love their explorer model, but the 22 frets put me off

Thanks. I had come across this one (I love Revocation) but I can only find one seller in my country who’s trying to get $2000 USD for it when it retails for $1300 in the US.
